The Runner's thread

Ran a lot in high school for soccer and other various reason. Started back seriously running a year and half ago. 3 or 4 days a week for that time period and I have taken maybe two weeks off in that time. I really need to take off another week soon, but I am going on a cruise at the end of June and I am trying to stay in shape for that. :)

Haha I understand

Haha. I ran at a 9:20 pace today so it is possible I just might be able to do under 2 hrs for my half which would be huge for me.

Yep, you're very close and my pace is always better in races. I guess its the motivation from other runners. You'll get it.

If you keep working between now and then and do a little speed training. You should be able to break the two hour mark. When race day comes you will be pumped and run a couple of miles faster than your normal pace. Atleast that's what I did.

I've spent the last 4 days in costa rica and the runs have been epic. I only ran 6k the first and second days, but yesterday and today I ran to other town and back- both times were about 14/15k. Feels good to run again, and good confirmation that crossfit is keeping me in shape.

After deciding a few weeks ago that running wasn't going to be part of my workouts, I got on the treadmill this morning and walked a lap, then ran a lap, then walked, then ran, then walked a lap on 12% incline, then walked a lap. First time (I think) I've ever ran a quarter of a mile. For me, that's a big deal. And I did it twice.

Right now I am so addicted to running I don't think I could not run or not allow it to be part of my workout.

Good job

A workout regimen w/o running is like a diet w/o actually dieting

For some maybe. Running isn't the only effective cardio.

But it does bring up a question I had. For those of you who run, do you do strength trainind as well? Weights or resistance workouts?

I do resistance work outs. I want to start adding some weights to my work outs but nothing really heavy. Main reason I don't do weights is because I don't have a memebership to a gym. Plus I would rather do my work outs outside.
