I wasn't feeling up for running at all today. I was tired, and my left hamstring was pretty sore. I sucked it up though. Chugged some water about an hour before, along with a banana, and took a couple ibuprofen for my leg. I got out and got 3.1 easy. That was the best run I've had since I started, I'm really glad I got out.
Anyone have any opinions of some the best running shoes out there? I need to buy a new pair soon..
I still love the Asics GT series. I had like 12 pairs in a row of them before I decided to try the new Under Armour running shoe (the MicroG), which I also like.
I'm late joining in on this thread, but I wanted to jump in since I'm ramping up to tackle a long time goal. I have to take a fit-test for my agency, and part of it is the mile and a half run. My best time is 9:08, but that was almost 9 years ago. My time last year was 9:34. My goal is to get under 9:00.
I was planning on integrating some sprint training into my routine, but wanted to hear some suggestions on how to approach this. The rest of my fit-test incorporates push-ups, sit-ups, and flexibility, so I have to maintain those as well. I currently do a hybrid workout of P90X, P90X2, and Insanity:Asylum along with at least 2 days of running a week. I'm training a total of 6 days a week right now.
TIA
Throw in some interval training 1 or 2 times a week. Start with some 4-6X400 and work your way up. If your not sure what pace to train at here is a website that I always use to figure out what pace to train at. Remember to put a previous best time in the input field NOT the desired time. For instance you say last year you did a 9:34, put in ~6:20 for a mile and use those paces.

I have ran every day for the last couple of weeks. The problem is my knees are getting really sore/hurting. I had to take the last 2 days off. Sucks.
Do you guys run every day and combine that with lifting? How many days a week do you run? I would like to run for about 45 minutes every day, the knee pain is starting to worry me. I had runners knee in the past and had to stop running for about 9 months.
My knees are really sore when I try to lift weight like squats or leg presses.
I only run 4 days per week and do core workouts 2 days and rest 1 day.I have ran every day for the last couple of weeks. The problem is my knees are getting really sore/hurting. I had to take the last 2 days off. Sucks.

Ran the half-marathon in Knoxville this morning. Great weather and great race.
Was my second one (ran the Knoxville half-marathon last year as well) and surprisingly did better despite much less training. Maybe I'm on to something there.
Done for the long distance running for a little while, start spring ball on Monday.
The one that finishes in Neyland? My sister and brother-in-law ran that too. They're Auburn fans. But they ran in support of Aicardi Syndrome. A friend's little boy has it. So I guess it's okay for them to be in the stadium.
