The Runner's thread

Every time I run my legs hurt really bad the next few days after...like shin splints but dare I say worse? It discourages me from running more than twice or so a week. I thought it was my shoes but I've tried several different pair and I'm still struggling. Any ideas?

are they the right kind of shoes? you might be an overpronator and need more support? I have that problem and I went to a specialty running shop in DC and they fit me in a pair of shoes and orthotics. I'm sure you can find one around you.

Anyone do tris? I'm training for my first Ironman (Ironman Florida) and am only about 2 weeks away. Scared and excited at the same time.

Done a few sprints and xterras. Nothing like the emotion at the start of a tri.

Trudat. I'll go as far to say that tri has changed who I am.

I would like to do an XTerra, but I only have a tri bike right now. Money, money!

I've used it for three runs so far and I don't have any complaints. I'm just using it log my runs, though. Don't care too much for the actual coaching. Have it set to just notify me every quarter I run.

What didn't you like about it and what do you like about imapmyrun?

I guess that now that I think about it, I was using it on my blackberry....so i shouldn't comment. I'm on an iphone4 now. I like that you can look up other peoples runs online because of imapmyrun. I travel quite a bit and use the website to find runs wherever I am. I kindof feel an obligation to pust runs myself because i'm using other people's.

Time to start running again. Ultra Marathon training started today. Goal is Promised Land 50k at the end of April. Calling all VN runners. 4 miles today. The last mile was a little rough.

Race is near Bedford, VA. It has about 8,000 ft of climbing. It is part of a series put on by a professor at Liberty University. He has the reputation of being a crazy race director. Here is a link to series home page.

Knocked out the Army 10 miler two weeks later I did the wicked 10k and the MCM 10k back to back.

Is anyone involved in doing the Smokey Mtn relay?

Ran 5 yesterday in under 40 mins. Couldn't convince myself to get out this morning and was too lazy this afternoon, so gonna run the treadmill tonight at the gym.

Nice speed. I'm around 9 min right now, but I haven't been pushing tempo.
