Ran .75 miles and then walkd/ran the .75 miles back right after finishing a 24.7 mile bike ride. As I stated in the cycling thread, I felt like I had thunder thighs.
I guess I better start practicing biking then running after hearing you guys talk about it. I plan on knocking out one of two tri's in September.
Figured I would just do the bike ride and not train too much for it.
Assuming the seaman thing will make you a natural swimmer is crazy talk - up your alley, but still crazy talk.

The only bike I have is a bomber, It should be great for training but it wears you down after about 5 miles. So if I plan on doing a tri I need to go buy a road bike, and I cant seem to pull the trigger on it.
You will be happy that you did during the race. I would say that the hardest part of the tri is the first mile run after the bike leg. It takes a few min to get your legs under you.
I rode a mountain bike my first sprint tri. Then I upgraded to a hybrid. It's a Diamondback Insight 1. I paid 360.00 for it. It has a hybrid road tire with minimal tread on it and has the straight bars instead to the road bars. It gets the job done for me. Might be something to look into.
I was looking at something like that but I cant seem to find one in the bike stores around here, I have been looking at a Trek 1.1 for about $600.
Most of the race rides will be under 25 miles so I don't think I need an Orbea or anything like that. There is one ride 'The Air Force Cycling Classic' that I would like to try and its a criterium.
I noticed you are in OBX. Kitty Hawk Cycle Company will rent you a nice road bike for $105/week. Michael the owner is a great guy. I rented a bike from him last year while on vacation there. Since your local to the area he might let you rent one for a couple of days just for the race. It would be worth going to talk to him.
That's a great idea. I didn't buy a bottom end road bike because I wasn't sure if I wanted the slick tires on the trail I ride. I would have loved to be able to rent one for a few days to see if I liked it.
