The Runner's thread

mentioned earlier were rolling pins...this is the one I use

It does a good job of helping your muscles after runs.

what you could have is a muscle hernia. It just means that your leg muscles aren't able to support what you are doing and need to get stronger, but you don't need to run while they are there because they will only get worse.

R-I-C-E

Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation

after ice you can add some heat

There are other possibilities about what it could be this is just my guess. Sorry it took me so long to get back.

Appreciate your help.

I have never used the Nike+. My shoes that I got have Nike+ whatever the hell that means?!? Anyone care to explain how it works or is it like RunKeeper and other apps like that

6 miles. Sucked the whole time. Not there mentally. Beautiful weather & views though. Slammed my toe on a rock. It hurts.

Signed up for the half marathon here in Chattanooga next weekend. We will see how this training has paid off. I will keep yall posted.

Against my better judgement I went out and ran 4 miles slowwwwwwwwwwwwly (like 13:00/mile slow) and surprisingly enough after eight plus hours the ankle is fine. I'll know for sure it's ok in the morning....

It's a chip you put in the shoe that links with your iPod or IPhone. It's costs like $30 and is pretty accurate when you calibrate it. The website is really cool and has a lot of difference nuances to keep you motivated. You should definitely look into it. Hopefully we can get a few people together to get a challenge going. Would be pretty fun.

So if the shoes supposedly came with Nike+ you still have to buy the chip?? Reason I ask is I am intrested in this challenge we are talking about. I wouldn't mind being apart of it.

4 miles yesterday while it was snowing. Awesome

That's awesome!! Where is this at?

Roanoke, VA. My subdivision is at the base of a mountain. The city created a nature preserve and built about 6 miles of trails going up the ridge and to the point. The trailhead is in the subdivision about a mile from my house.

Tha's pretty awesome that you have something like that close by to take advantage of... I wish I had something like that close by to my house. We have the river park here which is pretty awesome but when the weather warms up the place is over run by bike riders and most of them do not obey the rules of the park and it CAN be dangerous to run at times.

I'm very fortunate to live within 5 miles of the A.T. & Blue Ridge Parkway plus a total of 100+ miles of trail within 45 minutes or less. Great place if you love the outdoors.

As cyclist, I hate to hear when jerks give us a bad name. Whether I'm running or riding, I try to be courteous to everyone. We are all just trying to have fun. No reason why you can't slow down for a minute when other people are around. It's not the Tour de France & you're not that good anyway. 30 seconds ain't gonna ruin your training, jmo

When I run there I always try to stay as far to the right as I can to make sure people have plenty of room to pass me or plenty of room going the opposite direction. It seems that the cyclist just want to crowd you or if they are riding with someone else they can't get behind each other when your passing them going the opposite direction. Just makes me angry.

That being said I know there are plenty of cyclist out there that are nice and obey the rules. It's just like anything else... the few that are bad give the majority of the good a bad name. I personally would like to start biking a couple of times a week.

while training for my marathon I found biking was a great way to fatigue my legs but not kill them. Instead of going for a 6 mile run I'd ride 20 miles. Good change of pace & less wear on my joints.
