The Runner's thread

its nickname is the 1000 ft climb because of the elevation change. i hiked it yesterday in about 45 minutes. Seems like it goes on forever.

Dude, that's an epic run. Bravo.

Here is a marathon in Georgia I almost signed up for because of the time I wanted to run one, but then I looked at the elevation chart...

It's called "The Twisted Ankle Marathon"

wow. thats a beast.

I want to do the Uhawarrie Trail run next February. It sells out in hours. They pretty much guarantee that your going to get wet, turn your ankle and/or fall.

12 more miles. Amazing how much the humidity has gone up in two days.

Ran 1.4 miles last night. No issues this morning. This is a victory for me. Not upping the distance too quick and running too fast is the hardest thing. I'm not good at pacing myself.

4 miles yesterday afternoon pushing both kids in a running stroller. it's amazing what 85* and pushing around a weighted parachute wannabe can do to your run.

One of my best days is when my oldest learned to ride a bike.

4 miles yesterday, 3 after work today.

I have had to take a couple days off of running because my big toes in both feet were hurting from over use...I am almost back to 100%. I am pretty sure that I am going to run on Saturday. It feels like it has been forever.

Not sure if this will help you, but I switch between two pairs of running shoes from week to week.

Same shoes or 2 different kinds/brands?

I wear Saucony's one week and then NB 1068?'s the next week.

When I run just in the Saucony's I will start getting all kinds of shin/feet problems after about three weeks of running. With the NB's I get something called Iliotablahlily band syndrome after about a month of running in them.

Switching between them week to week seems to have stopped all this.

hmmmm....might have to think about that. I am going to a store in Nashville tomorrow with my wife because turns out she is a pronate runner. So she has had some knee issues and they are going to moniter her running and see what shoe would best fit her. I might ask them about my toes.

I would be surprised if it were the shoes though. I bought them when I started training for the marathon and this is the first time they have hurt.

Did 5k last year. A dad hooked a bike trailer to his camelbak and pulled his two boys ages 3 & 5. When the race started all I could think was, I can't let that guy beat me.

I was running in the NB's for about 4 months before I got the IT band thingy, switching shoes cleared it up. Not sure if this will help anyone so if you guys have serious issues head for the Doctor. Just thought I would share since it is working for me.

my issues are not that serious. My big toes in both of my feet were hurting. I rested and it has gone away...Just looking for preventative measures
