The Runner's thread

Toughed it out with some moleskin today. Actually never felt it during my run so I think I'm in the clear to run with it. Got in 3 today. I'm going to end up short on mileage this week unless I run on Sunday. I'm debating what to do. I wouldn't care to miss a run but I want to hit my goals by the end of Feb.

Weekly Total: 8.9 Miles

3.5 in 25:45 today. It was cooler, windy and raining a little bit but still felt good during the run.

Weekly total 10.5

Well my progress just got crapped on. I have the flu. Maybe ill lose a buncha muscle mass and be lighter on my feet when I'm able to run again...

Ran 5 at Big Ridge State Park this morning with a couple guys from work. I was struggling to keep up. Good practice for the race next weekend though.

Weekly Total: 17.55 Miles

I might do 1.5 tomorrow but it's going to be real easy. I'll just call it a cutback week, hah.

Alright question for you runners.

I run a somewhere between 2-3 times a week. When I do run, I run for 5.5 miles a pop.

This last time, I began to develop a slow somewhat throbbing ache around my lower calf on the medial side of my leg and radiated to the front of my leg (shin) at the same elevation.

Has anybody has this? At first I thought stress fracture or shin splints but I don't know. Is there a product I need to help this out or just suck it up and run through it?

I'd rest it a couple of days. Whenever I get pain, it will persist until I rest. Also, if you haven't done so, go to a running shoe store and get custom fit shoes. Also get some custom insoles. It'll make a world of a difference.

3.5 this morning. 7:22 pace. It sucked this morning. First half of the run was freezing because of the wind and the temp. but the second half of the run the wind had stopped and the temp had gone up and I almost got too hot.

Weekly total 14.0

Finished the 10K race this morning in 46:40. Took 3rd place in my age division. Passed about 10 people on the 5K coming back in.

Thanks for the response. I'll have too look into that.
