The Runner's thread

Ran 5k yesterday in 21:06 which is a new PR since I started back. I have done all this by training on a Cybex Arc Trainer 5-6 days a week because a lot of running can give me shin splints that take along time to heal. My goal is to go below 20 and when I started this year I was at 26:30.

Hiked a local mountain today and ran back down. Good sweat and heart was thumping. Nice change of pace

Did my 1.5mi run for my agency fit test this morning...personal best of 9:05. Did not help that I went to sleep with a splitting headache only got about 3 hours of sleep. I was shocked to set a new PR...it was the strongest run of my life.

God was smiling on me today. Next stop...sub-9 minute mile and a half.

I hiked about six and half miles yesterday. It was crazy how sore my legs were last night. I think I am going to try and run the trail. It was a super nice trail with lots of elevation changes.

9:05 is really good, congrats

3 miles last night. Slower than normal. I was much sorer than I thought I was from my hike on Sunday. Apparently I didn't stretch enough after the hike.

Do you usually do dynamic or static stretching?

as bad as it sounds, I don't really stretch. I just start running. My first 3 miles are typically slower and I pick it up for the last 10.1.

So I guess you could say my first 3 miles are my stretch so technically you could say dynamic.

Dynamic is using motion in your stretching, like a few sets of lunges as why not. Static is when you sit on your bum and stretch the legs. Supposedly attic is no good.

Ahh... I see. Well I usually stretch statically I guess. I don't really ever sit down and stretch but I don't do lunges either. I usually don't have a problem unless I don't stretch long enough and I think that was my problem.
