The real issue

Continuity; doesnt that cause coaches to get complacent and programs stagnant? Seems that what a staff in Knoxville was accused of a few years back. The HC didnt believe in firing guys will nilly so he got fired.
I was referring to staff continuity, not the way they manipulate their system or the way they improve what they preach. When HC
perceives a problem with his staff he will make a move, likewise, if the AD has the same feeling about the HC, then he makes a move. Management continuity is what I was speaking that is not having staff turnover. An example, when we won the championship in 96, the next year and from then on staff members moved on to better positions and things got progressive worst. (when you win it all you must come down at some point). The staff lost continuity, the team suffered. It seem that the guys brought in could not fill the shoes of the departed.

While the OL is a major concern, I don’t believe it’s as bad as everyone thinks....hear me out.

These players have been in the same system for their entire college careers under butch jones. Now, they are less than a year under not one, not two, but three different systems (defense, offense, special teams). It is a HUGE learning curve for guys that werent recruited for, or have never played in this kind of system.

It is GOING TO TAKE TIME to instill the system. That’s why teams like Missouri, Vandy and South Carolina are so competitive. They’ve had the same systems in place for years to maintain stability. Only time and recruits will fix that.
I can agree that changing the system every year makes it very difficult for the linemen. That is why we keep seeing missed assignments and mental mistakes. I do, however, think that bigger meaner guys in the trenches would make a huge difference regardless of the system changes. Our linemen get overpowered all the time. Even when they get in front of guys they are being bullied and pushed into the QB way too fast. Size and strength is where it starts, then comes learning a system and playing smart, assignment football.

Not buying the system these guys are not physical and to be honest just soft. I actually played Football it's not that difficult. If you don't know who to hit just hit somebody. This line doesn't like contact. Pay attention to this Saturday, on running plays while 5 players takle our back or wr you'll see at least 3 of our offensive linemen just standing there watching instead of hitting somebody. Just watch and tell me if I'm wrong. That's mindset not system.

Yep. What’s even worse is it causes other players to get hurt or turn the ball over and they simply do not have enough heart to give maximum effort.

People seem to forget UT was 9-4 the year before last. Linemen weren't any bigger then. OL soze may be a issue, but it's not "the" issue.

Kind of like a dude playing a dude disguised as another dude.

It kinda reminded me of the joke about the man sitting beside the man sitting beside the man that called that piccolo player a son of a bitch.. The real issue is, who said that son of a bitch was a piccolo player? Somebody needs to rework this joke so that the piccolo player is a football coach.

This. There are lots of plays where the defense comes through untouched and kills Guarantano. They may get confused on blocking assignments, but they could hit someone... Anyone... Like the guy running right by them to get to the QB.
