Got any prof of that ? Or just some inside info
He had time in that first pass and hurried it, which ultimately set up the 3rd down disaster. Ultimately the line sucks. As Pruitt said, at times they had 7 blocking 4 and still got whipped.JG might be tough but I question his awareness at best. Maybe even his vision. He takes a beating because he can’t feel the pressure nor recognize when a blitz is coming. I like him but he won’t survive all season if he keeps it up. Hopefully he’s okay.
I do hear things but when you have a senior QB with Chryst's talent and experience you don't have him on the bench if your main concern is winning. Look JG has talent but he does not see his secondary receivers, doesn't pick up the blitz and takes too much time getting set to throw. All these things can be worked on but if your plan is to build for next year you need to at least alternate QBs so the younger QB can pick up things from watching the more experiences QB. And it is no secret that Pruitt's concern is building.
Maybe because they have eyes and can make observations, even though they aren't anymore accurate than anyone else's. And I have coached numerous NFL teams myself. Don Shula said his Dolphin team was undefeated only because of my expertise at calling plays. I have also been nominated for 'Liar of the Year' 3 years running. It's impossible for me to say this without sounding like I'm picking sides, but where in the world have people deduced that Chryst is a polished passer who reads defenses well? People are acting like it's a foregone conclusion that KC is poised and JG is raw, yet JG isn't turning it over on bad reads and is really only guilty of getting beat up behind an awful line. Do you really think KC would be faring better with extended reps rather than mostly trash time?
He also hasn't seen a lot of snaps against 1st team defenses that were bringing pressure. That's what I was getting at when I asked if anybody thought KC would fare any better with extended action behind this o-line. Maybe he'd fare better, but I'm not optimistic.Nobody has to constantly talk about how “tough” Chryst is because he’s not constantly taking kill shots from elite defenses.
Chryst looks more durable to me. I’ve seen JG look for a soft spot to land twice now against the two really fierce defenses he’s played. He bowed out against UF and he bowed out against Bama. I realize he took some big shots but if he’s okay to play the following week, he was probably ok to finish those games.
In Chryst, I see a big, sturdy, strong dude who throws a damn good ball and seems to sense when pressure is coming thus he knows when to get rid of it. Nobody has to constantly talk about how “tough” Chryst is because he’s not constantly taking kill shots from elite defenses.
Why do you think JG is better than Chryst? Chryst has not been allowed to play and even then until yesterday he wasn't allowed to throw and even after 2 TD drives Pruitt has us come out running the ball in the 2nd.
"Keller Chryst is the Vols’ highest graded player by PFF"
Guarantano has took more hits than any quarterback in recent ut history and got up everytime but a guy that came in and threw a couple decent balls looks more sturdy to you. Smh. I’m not sure what planet some of you guys reside on.
If you study the game and watch defenses, one of JG’s glaring weaknesses is he’s not recognizing blitzes and pressures from defensive alignments. This happened constantly against Florida and he was getting blasted. It happened against Bama too. My point is, he wouldn’t have to be so “tough” if he would avoid the hits by checking or getting rid of the ball. It’s not coincidence that Chryst hasn’t had his helmet knocked into the 3rd row half a dozen times.
JG is talented, throws a great deep ball, really good arm talent. But two areas where he’s weak is reading presssure packages and I also think his run game and mobility has been was less than what I was expecting. He can improve, but right now Chryst looks like a better QB.
To be fair Bama layed off the pressure once Keller went in. I still say JG to startFrom the first time Jarrett was hit yesterday,he seemed like he was very upset and begin to look like he looked when he didnt start against Virginia Tech.I dont know if he was pouting or what but he looked mad.Cant blame him really from the lack of protection from the OL.I thought when Chryst came in the players seemed to perk up with not just the line but receivers also. Its reported that Jarrett has bruised ribs so Chryst will probably start next week.Do you feel like we can win with Chryst?I liked what I saw him do yesterday,so I have faith in him!!
