A new coach is more important. So long as he is there, this is what you get.
I figured the addition of Tyson Chandler would make this team care a little more about defense but after watching the dunk drill last night I guess not.
Probably not, but they should.
You couldn't be more wrong.
The Suns were a fun team to watch, that's is about it, he can't get a team to play defense.
A better coach could get them to play D and share the ball.
That's a big if, but in reality the Suns weren't built for the playoffs and niether are the Knicks.
Not built for the playoffs? They went to the conference finals 3 times in 5 years.
I don't think that it's that big of an "if". The Suns had the best record in the NBA. Series was tied 2-2, and Amare missed game 5 which they only lost by 3 in Phoenix. Amare averaged 25 and 12 in that series. That gets them back home for game 7. Then they probably beat Cleveland easily in the Finals.
Hypothetical champions, congrats to the Suns.
When I say built for the playoffs, I mean actually winning something, making it the conference finals is nice but does not come with a trophy.
My only point is that D'Antoni needs a good PG, and that he can get damn good results with one. The 2007 Suns did not win a title, but they were a championship caliber team.
Unless they start playing defense it doens't matter who they have at PG, simple as that.
Did you watch the game against the Heat? Wade/James had 5 dunks each...they got to the rim at will.
Trading Melo for D. Williams would make them a better team but no better than 3rd place in the East.
Unless they put together a team that can outscore the opposition. Suns didn't play D, and won 61 games in a tough conference.
If we're dealing in reality, there's probably nothing any team can do right now to make themselves better than 3rd in the East. Heat and Bulls have that locked up. Spoelstra seems to be living proof that the coach plays a small role.
