So if Jeff wins, it was all a conspiracy? Regardless of whether he has a great car? It's not like he isn't capable of winning a race.
If Harvick wins - wrecked his way in.
If Kyle wins - got special treatment from NASCAR to be eligible.
Martin Truex is the only clear champion here. Cancel the race.
Seems legit.
My thing is, I don't think most of the guys in the final segment were the best driver over the course of the season. This sport is random, and this chase is even more random. It is what it is.
I'll still watch, and it will be fascinating. I just don't think NASCAR has found the perfect format.
What do you do though?
You want to make every race important.

This format was advertised to be about winning but a driver can win every race except Homestead and still lose the championship to a driver who hasn't won a race during the season. I would like to see the driver with the most season wins automatically advance to the next round each time and non-winners qualify only for the first round of the chase. This would eliminate a non-winner winning the championship. JMO
I've gone from watching as much as possible maybe 10 years ago, to watching maybe 5 hours per season right now. The whole setup is a crock of ****, hard to take it seriously.Agreed. The chase is a joke. Playoffs even more of a joke. There is too much money in this sport and so much time (10-11 months) spent on the season that to have your championship hopes erased by a blown engine, crash,a any little mishap in one race in the chase. I wouldn't mind testing out the points system that f1 uses. Hell or even try the old points system again but keep the points like it is(1st-43 points, 2nd 42nd and so on).NASCAR just overreacted to the decline of the attendance and ratings when they came up with the chase.
If Nascar insists on doing a "playoff" here's what I think would work. You extend the "regular season" from 26 races to 32. After that you take the 5 drivers with the most wins on the condition that they are in the top 10 in points. Let them race it out over the final 4 races for the championship. In the event that 2 drivers are tied for number of wins you go to top 5 finishes to determine who makes the chase. If it's still tied you go with whoever is ahead in points at the time the chase is set.
