The Official NASCAR Talk Thread

Congrats to Kyle. Great competitor. It sucks how he won it, but I still applaud him for fighting against all odds.

Here's a question I have.

Does NASCAR do anything close to what they did for Jeff Gordon this season for tony Stewart?

I think they thank him at the end of season and see him shuffle into the shadows.

I will give him this. In the races he competed in he did perform like a champion.

Yes he did. ....having said that. he's gonna have to do it again.

Right or wrong, a nice chunk of the fanbase (#18 fans aside, obviously.) looks at this season as a fraud.

NASCAR in general needs to get it's act together.

...they can't. Pretty sure Tony knows that.

They will do some stuff but the weekly reirement party ain't happening.

What a joke missing 11 races (nearly half of the 26 race regular season) and being champion. This is going to turn away the long term fans that are still around.

Yet he won more races then any other driver in those 26 races ,or for him 15 races. Of course he had no chance in the old points. But this is the new way.

If it had been anybody but Kyle nobody would have a problem with it.

False. Besides Truex, I'd much rather see Kyle win other Gordon and harvick.

I root for the #2, I can appreciate a true wheelman. I think people have a bigger problem with the way NASCAR seemed to write the rulebook as they went along this season. Kyle winning is the biggest example of it.

Absolutely false in my case. If you run a partial schedule, you don't deserve to win a championship.

But that's the way the system works now. You can miss a race here and there now and still contend for the championship, even 11. He didn't miss them by choice. It's Not like he was in Barbados during the time drink coconut rum while skiing and playing cards

How is that different than any other season. Nascar has been doing that as long as I've been following.

Who do Gordon fans plan to pull for next season?

I plan to pull for Chase. It might be a little while before bubba Wallace takes the next step.

Gordon's retirement speech tonight was difficult to watch. Hard to believe that the icon is retired. And then next year, another icon retires.

Cool story bro...

Mark Martin flew his plane through my airspace today. Was pretty cool getting to hear him, one of my favorites growing up.
