The Official Lakers Thread

Is Kobe going to play in the Turkish league next year? There's no chance Dahntay Jones is going to be on the Hawks' roster next season.

Your guess is as good as mine. I thought it was a tad dramatic myself. The way the stripes called that game
(I watched it) if it even resembled a foul they were calling it for the Lakers

I don't blame the ref at all for not calling that a foul in real time but that's absolutely a dirty play. Dahntay jones knew exactly what he was doing and didn't even bother contesting the shot.

I am obviously biased, but it sure looked to me like the Lakers got every call possible once the Hawks went up ~14.

I don't see anything dirty about the last play. Jones's momentum was coming towards Kobe because he couldn't keep up, Kobe had created some separation for the last shot, and Jones had to jump at him to close that gap. I can see the argument that it should have been a foul, except that the contact came after Kobe took the shot and you never see that called in the waning seconds. Jones was moving and Kobe happened to come down in the wrong place. These are big men moving really fast; it happens. Finis. For Kobe to act like he got kneecapped is whining even my little girl wouldn't do.

@kobebryant: #dangerousplay that should have been called. Period.

Dahntay's response:

@dahntay1: Leg kick that makes contact with a defensive player is an offense foul. Period. The nba changed that rule 2 yrs ago. Stop it!

Dahntay Jones FTW

He contested the shot; he was just pathetically late because he's slow and he sucks. By the time he got his hand up Kobe had already released the shot. He took an extra step towards the shooter because he was off balance after Kobe had beaten him. I can see the argument that it's a foul a lot more than the claim that Jones made an actual decision in that tenth of a second to go for the injury rather than trying to stop the shot.

It being Kobe is the only reason it's a discussion. If dahntay jones for whatever reason shot and landed on kobes foot it wouldn't be a discussion. Just Kobe doing a good job contesting a shot.

Kobe should have taken another three at the end. We did not need to play an overtime. No foul at the end either. Kobe just missed a makeable shot. Nothing to complain about.

He tripped Kobe back when he played for the Pelicans. But what he did last night was not flagrant in my mind. Bruce Bowen called it a foul, and if the ref was looking he may very well have called it. But he didn't. Move on.

It's hard for me to consider that a foul, when Kobe's feet aren't under him. It's incidental.

Listening to Jones on First Take. He hurts his case by trying to blame Kobe. He already got away with what "could have" been a foul. Now he he is going a bit too far. Steven A baited him into calling the show. And he bit it h, l and s. Mistake.

Huh? There is an angle that makes it look very bad.

He definitely stuck is foot out to get under Kobe. Maybe he didn't have the intent to injure but he knew what he was doing.

LOL, but all the other ones make it look like he was putting a hand in his face. Again, if Kobe goes straight up and down instead of landing behind his feet, this doesn't happen.

It's nobody's fault. It's one of those things that just happens, and I'm surprised it doesn't happen more.

Kobe takes that type of **** 3-4 times a game. It doesn't happen more because people know it's dangerous and you don't do that.

To act like he just stuck his foot out on accident is a joke

For the life of me I don't understand how Stephen A or Skip Bayless have any credentials

It doesn't happen more because it isn't incidental.

You guys must've played some weakass ball in your day if you think that is a foul. Holy hell.
