The Official Lakers Thread

The second result for "NBA fadeaway jumper youtube" is another video in which Kobe himself hits a jumper, and the defender jumps at him and lands with a foot extended. Kobe didn't come down on this one, though, so it was just a defensive play I guess.

It's the hypocrisy. Not yours, not any fan's. But hypocrisy nonetheless.

It's not hypocrisy. Players know it's a bs move.

Dude I live in the same town is Kobe. Guys is a douche. I don't like the guy but appreciate what he does on the court.

That play was cheap regardless if you are a fan or not.

Here's LeBron hitting a fadeaway jumper with the defender obviously "walking right up underneath him." All this is on the first page of search results mind you. Not for dirty plays, but just for fadeaway jumpers.

You obviously don't have much of a life to be searching random videos.

Fans are biased. Media shouldn't be. Refs shouldn't be. Kobe should know better too.

I have no problem with it being a foul or even being dirty if it really is. I have a problem with it not being equal when the shoe is on the other foot.

FTR, I root for Kobe a lot. And yes I know he's a despicable person.

Here's Tracy McGrady hitting a fadeaway in China where an obviously dirty Chinese player walks up underneath him with another clear and purposeful intent to injure.

It's naturally gonna get more attention when a player of his caliber gets hurt. He shouldn't have tweeted about it but he has a history w jones.

What's the reasoning to walking under somebody after the ball is released? You aren't altering the shot at that point.

Also, what bugged me most wasn't Kobe. It was Bruce effing Bowen acting like a beacon of defensive virtue when he was at least borderline dirty himself.

That's the point. None of these guys are doing it on purpose. They're jumping at a guy who's creating space by jumping backwards, and if you're the Chinese guy jumping at Tracy McGrady or Dahntay Jones jumping at Kobe or whoever that was jumping at LeBron, you can't stay in the air as long as he does, so your feet come down first. What you're calling a dirty play is the only way to defend a fadeaway jumper unless you're a foot taller than the shooter. It's just bad luck that Kobe happened to come down on the guy's foot.

Did I say it would not be dirty if Kobe was the defender? That would be hypocrisy.

Clearly you don't know what the words means.

Yeah, it was lazy to call it hypocrisy. Falcon had just used the word and so it leapt too easily to mind. I confess that I haven't actually seen any other counterexamples; I mean, it may be that you're not a blind Kobe-slurping homer at all, and instead you're just really really concerned about safe play in basketball. My apologies.

You are lazy and stupid. Not a good combination.

Are you serious? So all the former players saying its dirty are wrong? But you the Internet genius who is prob 150 overweight is correct.

Got it. Go eat a dick

You are lazy and stupid. Not a good combination.

Always a little sad when the dumb guys can't string together a coherent argument and they have to make personal attacks instead.

Hope all you Lakers frontrunners enjoy the offseason.
