The Official Lakers Thread

There are three things that I'm pissed about. First, the Lakers never went after a defensive point guard in the offseason. That's what killed them last season in the series against OKC. Next, D'Antoni is not utilizing Pau Gasol correctly. Any idiot should realized that Gasol is, and never will be a stretch four. Lastly, is defense, although it's well known that Mike doesn't even know what that is.

It's funny..Kobe could have been playing like this all year and they wouldn't be in this bad of shape.

Instead of taking 30 shots a game, he's a lot more effective taking 16-17, and distributing the ball well.

Based on what I've seen from Kobe the last few games he's not just passing, he's setting guys up for easy baskets. He's a completely different player than he's been historically. He's going to the hoop looking for the best play, rather than passing as a last resort.

If they continue to be unselfish w the basketball, Lakers will be hard to beat.

For the first time this season I am excited to stay up late and watch the next game! Good thing the next three are on nbatv and espn

Do you have NBA League Pass? Never miss another Laker game again.

Kobe "the closer" Bryant goes 2 for 7 with 2 turnovers in the last 8 minutes, and missed an easy layup with 23" as they blew a double digit 4th quarter lead. I'll never understand how he got the nickname. The numbers sure don't support it.

From espn stats and info

Kobe stopped passing in 4th quarter - 10 FGA and 9 assists in 1st 3 quarters, 7 FGA and 0 assists in final 12 minutes.

I knew it was going to happen. I said "Let's see what this new Kobe does when the game is really close."

He can't help himself. He believes he has to win the game by himself.

Right, he has a history of doing this. Over the span of his career, the Lakers have been the highest scoring team in the NBA, but in the 4th quarter (when Kobe takes over) they are just average in terms of scoring. That's like 17 years of data demonstrating that he isn't clutch.

Last night was kind of funny. Don't get me wrong, I love when kobe remembers he can pass. It's pretty beautiful when he plays actual basketball instead of kobe ball. But last night the announcers were practically calling him Magic Johnson every time he passed.
