The Official Lakers Thread

Howard, Gasol and Hill will all miss time due to injuries, too. This season continues to get better. I have heard that Kenyon Martin may be signed soon, but this report states otherwise.

Sam Amick: The Lakers-who cut Johnson-Odom & lost bigs D. Howard & P. Gasol today-have not reached out to free agent F Kenyon Martin, USAT has learned

Kobe and Dwight having to be restrained form each other and now Howard has an injury and is out for at least a week. I'd be shocked if Howard stayed in LA.

With Paul refusing to sign an extension, I'm starting to seriously believe the Howard/Paul to Atlanta rumblings.

Are you worried Dwight would leave at year's end? My Lakers buddy is.

What do you think they could realistically get for Gasol? If they pull off a nice trade with him, I doubt Howard would leave. AK47 + Cunningham from the T-Wolves would be nice, but the T-Wolves would be fools...doesn't mean they wouldn't do it...from my perspective trades are usually imbalanced.

You'd have to add Derrick Williams to that trade.

I don't think so. I don't think T-Wolves would go for that. Derrick Williams has big potential, but the Lakers want to win and Cunningham is a better player than Williams (right now).

It would be a steal for the Lakers. It addresses their second biggest need, which is a wing and AK47 is playing better this season than anybody else on Minnesota and LA. It would be a Billy Bean-type move. I don't think Minnesota realizes the season he's having simply because he is only averaging 13.6 ppg.

I always wanted to see you play Tracy McGrady.

I played T-Mac. I cooked him. Roasted him. Wasn’t even close. Ask him, he’ll tell you. When I was about 20, we were in Germany doing some promotional stuff for that other sneaker company and we played basketball every day. We were in the gym all the time. We played three games of one-on-one to 11. I won all three games. One game I won 11-2. After the third game he said he had back spasms and couldn’t play anymore.

His back bothered him for most of his career.

Well, now you know.

No surprise here. I can see this one.

Who would you most like to play one-on-one, either active or retired?

Jordan. No question.

What would happen?

I’m not sure, but he would win some and I would win some in a seven-game series. It would probably come down to the last few shots.

Jordan in 5

Kobe is dreaming if he thinks he's the best one on one scorer. He has the best moves, no question, but he doesn't score all that efficiently. Lebron can create better shots with his length than Kobe can with all his razzle dazzle.
