The official "Jeremy Pruitt has been fired" WATCH THREAD.

Gene Chizik!!!!????

Okay, I'm sorta kidding ... I mean, yes he could do an interview, but I don't think anyone wants him.

Lol. You're right nobody really wants him. But he did win a national championship as head coach. His final season at Auburn didn't go so well but he did have a new OC and DC that season and from what I remember they lost some key players from the previous season.

But Orgeron is at LSU. Cristobal at Oregon. And now Sark at Texas. Ten years ago would anyone have ever guessed those 3 would be coaching 3 of the top programs in the country. Chizik at UT wouldn't be out of the question either.

I view Gus has someone who the game might have passed by and I would like someone who may be younger and more hungrier for success. I believe Marrone is a below average coach at any level. I would rather stick with Pruitt then have him come here.
Ha! Well I guess the game has passed Pruitt by since he won half the games Gus won this season. Him and Marrone could outcoach Pruitt in their sleep.

Chizik, seriously? His overall HC record is 38-38. He didn't win the NC @ AU, the boosters did when they bought Cam Newton. Your list wasn't terrible until the end.

Marrone couldn’t. You talk about an abysmal coaching record.
He took the Jags to the AFC Championship. Coaching at Jacksonville is not an easy task. A coach like Marrone would have also had our QB situation figured out much earlier in the season. We would have won a minimum 5 or 6 games this season with someone like him as our head coach.

I'll take that AFC Championship game appearance over that 27 point loss at home to Kentucky.

What’s he done lately? What did he do at Syracuse? Look at his HC career w/l record, about 35% I believe. No thanks.

I'll admit I was a bit surprised Auburn hired him due to his record at Iowa St at the time. But he had already been DC at Auburn previously so I think that helped land him the job there. Two 8 win seasons and a national championship his first 3 years at Auburn is better than anything our last 3 head coaches have accomplished their first 3 seasons here.

Anyways, he's probably happy at the SEC Network now. I would stay there too if I was him.

Syracuse, Buffalo Bills, and Jacksonville Jaguars. Not exactly the easiest places to win Won 2 bowl games at Syracuse. And apparently did good enough there to get a head coaching job in the NFL. Has lasted longer in the NFL as a head coach than Saban and Spurrier combined. At least he was willing to give it a shot and didn't quit.

He knows how to run an offense. Has been an offensive coordinator, offensive line coach and has coached TEs in the past. OL and TE are areas we need improvement as a team and I'm confident he'd have them fixed by year 2. Get someone like Derek Mason as DC and we would be just fine.

Marrone can coach circles, rectangles, hexagons and octagons around Pruitt. Matt Patricia could too.

Ms. Marrone , we can bring him in as an Offensive specialist and let him work his way up.
Pay is going to be a little slow coming in at first because of Covid but if he works hard he just might find a big payday in his future. Let us know if he is interested.175F5775-C10C-46E1-BE4F-BFF161FA438D.gif

That Gus is almost 15 years younger than Saban and his football strategy is almost 15 years older than Saban makes me laugh but it's true.

I think Marrone is better than Pruitt but just barely. I wonder about Marrone's recruiting chops as he's been out of the south since he left TN in 2001 and in the pros most of the time since then.

Okay, that was well said. I don't want him, but you state your case very well ... props.

Here is a list of coaches who could be interviewed right away IF the head coaching position becomes available.

Gus Malzahn
Tom Herman
Doug Marone - expected to be out at Jacksonville.
Matt Campbell
Luke Fickell
Gene Chizik

I think from that list they could find a competent head coach.
So, you not a Freezer???
VolNation thinks he is the next Saban
Win East in 2 years
SEC in 3 years
NC in 4 years
Then undefeated until retirement.
Why interview anyone else??

He is NOT coming to Knoxville, his wife hates it here.
I'm glad Mrs Marrone hates Knoxville because i don't want Doug Marrone anywhere near the Tennessee football program. Then again i also heard that Tee Martin's wife hated Knoxville also and we saw how that ended up going.

Don't get me wrong. I think Freeze is a great coach and would be great here. He had that slip up in his personal life which is too much for the holier than thou portion of our fanbase who have apparently committed no sins in their lifetime.

I think that he’d do well. I don’t know if he’d be great. Could be I guess. The problem with Freeze is the past problems Tennessee has had. There’s a long list of embarrassing events including the recent dismissal of a cheerleader. It’s likely that Freeze has learned from his mistakes and isn’t likely to repeat them. It’s also understandable that the administration may not be willing to take that risk.

Our fanbase was up in arms over Schiano. Understandable. However, many of them carried that over when Leach and Doeren were mentioned as possibilities. I imagine that portion of the fanbase would do the same with Freeze.

You are probably right about that.
I’m terrible at picking coaches. Everyone I think will do well ends up.....not. Strong for example. I was actually ok with Leach. I don’t think he’d win championships but he would have made things entertaining.

Wait.....you mean Pruitt hasn't been fired? But but but...all the posters with insider information! All the Twitter accounts with the non specific details that acted like they knew something! I'm shocked.....shocked I say!
Insiders have moved the date, again😂

I think it’s interesting that we haven’t hired any assistant coaches to fill the vacancies. Things are strangely quiet. Either we will see assistant coach hirings or a head coaching change. When we start seeing assistant coaches hired, that’s a signal we are keeping Pruitt. Until then, anything can happen.
