Firing a HOF coach from his own home state school twice in one lifetime is difficult public relations wise. Need to let him “retire” and take an Emeritus type role like Pat did when she was diagnosed.

Deerpark usually don't get into the coaching stuff. I may be wrong about AV on this, but several in here have said he's dropped hints about Freeze, but that's other posters saying it. I do know as far as him, he was 100% wrong on everything about gruden, and beaver. I'm basically being petty, and I shouldn't. I just think, my opinion, if you're gonna claim to be in the know, at least be right some times. Go back in this thread, the freeze thread, look at how many claims there was. When you have time, dig up the gruden threads, it just got comical to me. Again, it's just me being petty, and I shouldn't.

Here is a list of coaches who could be interviewed right away IF the head coaching position becomes available.

Gus Malzahn
Tom Herman
Doug Marone - expected to be out at Jacksonville.
Matt Campbell
Luke Fickell
Gene Chizik

I think from that list they could find a competent head coach.

I like Herman,Campbell, Fickel or Napier in no particular order. Hopefully one would come here for the right money. I don’t know anything about Chizik . I’ll have to check his history. I don’t Like Malzahn or Maroone from everything I read. I’m still believe Pruitt will remain in 2021 but I expect 500 ball is our ceiling with Pruitt. We are not serious about improving the football program like Auburn and Texas are.

Malzahn had 3 victories against Bama during his tenure as head coach at Auburn and a national championship appearance under his belt. I think he'd be more successful at UT in the East than at Auburn in the West.

Marrone has head coaching experience at Syracuse prior to leaving for the Bills. He at least should be granted an interview if the position is open and would be a step up over Pruitt. Plus he took the Jaguars to the AFC Championship with Blake Bortles as QB. And almost won.

Chizik has won a national championship as head coach. But he might be comfortable with his gig at the SEC Network to want to coach again.

Just my thoughts on those 3. I also refuse to mention Kiffin, Urban, and Freeze. Kiffin left us like a thief in the night. There are rumors Urban might become head coach at Jacksonville. The holier than thou portion of our fanbase would throw a fit over Freeze.

I view Gus has someone who the game might have passed by and I would like someone who may be younger and more hungrier for success. I believe Marrone is a below average coach at any level. I would rather stick with Pruitt then have him come here.
