The Official Indianapolis Colts Thread

Good win today. Nice to be on the right side of .500. O line needs to do better Luck keeps getting better and run game was nice today.

I know its easy for some to blame the refs but the refs have never won or lost a game.

That's not true.

Seahawks/Packers.

Thinking the refs didn't decide the game the Packers had opportunities earlier in the game to win is dumb. They had the game win and the refs robbed them. The Seahawks lost and the refs gave them a win they didn't deserve. It's really as simple as that.

If the refs didn't decide that game, then kickers with the game on the line have never decided the game either.

You wouldn't feel that way or be this calm if the role was reversed and the Titans beat the Colts in the same fashion.

Seriously... I don't understand people who say "they had chances to win" as if it's not the refs fault for taking points off the board, putting points on the board, giving the ball/taking the ball away, penalties that didn't happen to keep drives alive... all of those things are the refs fault. Saying a team should have scored more or played better defense makes no sense. They put themselves in a position to win the game only for the refs to screw them over. Just because they had 59minutes prior doesn't make it okay to just shrug it off as them not having done enough.

Anyways...

So when the middle backer missed an int or your qb over threw a wide open tight end or your d only has ten guys on the field for a 4th down play, is that the refs fault?

Blowing a call on a clear turnover inside FG range where the titans would just have to run 3 times and kick a short FG isn't deciding the game? Seemed like it to me at the time.

Blaming the refs is the easy thing to do. Easier than blaming your QB for badly over throwing a wide open TE, your MLB for dropping an int or having only 10 men on your D for a 4th down play.

Was it a bad call? Maybe. Did it decide the game? No.

I presume you were at the game. Nothing like seeing your team win on the road and seeing your franchise qb grow up in front of you! Did you ever find out where the Colts stay at in Nashville and/or meet any of the team?

I was at the game. It was great winning on the road and winning here where I could be there. If this line ever starts pass blocking well, look out this guy will be special.

I think I know now where they stay but I was not able to make it down there, I was coaching a 9/10 year old playoff football game and then had something else I had to do Sat night. But at least I believe I have found out where they stay.

At least its encouraging that the run game is coming along - maybe that is what the OL has been concentrating on. A competent running game takes a lot of pressure off of Luck.

That is true, the run game has been really good. Watching the Denver game last night they said Clady (their left tackle) is a FA after this season. With all the cap space the Colts have I hope they go after that guy.

"Sometimes you have to do more than lead by example," Wayne said, via Mike Chappell of the Indianapolis Star.

"I was [upset]," Wayne said. "There was no false enthusiasm on this one. I was [upset] because I knew what we were capable of. We should have had a lead at halftime and we were behind.

"I felt like we needed a little fire. I had to speak up."

The team took notice of Wayne's passion.

"Reggie told us to look at everybody and see if we wanted to fight for each other," center Samson Satele said. "It just fired everybody up. I was looking around and thinking, ‘I don’t want to leave here with a loss.’

"Not after that speech Reggie just gave."

This guy left a lot of money on the table to stay a Colt. Not only a great player but this team's leader.

Luck was unbelievable. Defense played well in the 2nd half. It is satisfying to see a well coached team make adjustments and play to the maximum of their ability.

Chuck Pagano's speech after the was pretty inspirational.

Manning and Luck have thrown for the exact same number of yards and both teams are 5-3

Peter King has a good writeup on Luck's game yesterday. He made an excellent point that without a running game, being forced into a large number of 3rd downs, and playing against a decent defense, Luck had one of the best games of the year for ANY QB.

I had high hopes for Luck I never thought he could be this good, this early. I would have never believed that half way through the year we would be 5-3 and battling for a playoff spot.

Neither did I. We need to savor the experience. I tend to be critical of the teams I follow (in UT's case, I think its justified), so yesterday was good medicine.

I am also. I was willing to give this team a 100% pass though for this year because they were in total rebuild mode but now I am starting to expect them to win. Now this team still has issues and will lose some games but the future is bright.

I hate the Colts. But they're much more root-for-able this year. Hoping Pagano comes back strong. Luck is gonna be another franchise QB for Indy, which sucks as a Titans fan having to see him twice a year and fight against them for the division. Although the Texans are probably the class of the division for 3-4 more years

Luck is the real deal. Looks like Peyton leaving was best for all parties involved. Houston better enjoy these 2-3 years on top, because I have a feeling the Colts are going to have another long run of divisional dominance.
