The Official Indianapolis Colts Thread

Colts are always terrible in the preseason, even when Peyton is 100% healthy.

Peyton will play week 1, guaranteed.

The Colts do need to use a higher round pick on drafting a QB, the current back ups have no business in the NLF

I've compiled some data that shows preseason games mean jack ****.

No kidding. Colts always lose in preseason, but that's because Peyton Manning plays about 5 minutes. If you wanna see what the Colts offense looks like without Manning, you can get an idea from preseason. My only point was I hope Manning is healthy Week 1. Are you guys refuting that we would look bad without Manning in Week 1? Why all the snideness?

i personally don't think he'll miss too many games....like high end 3, maybe 4

but even if were the case, i could still see the colts going through such a stretch with only 1, maybe 2 losses

Maybe...if it's only a 3 game stretch.

Yeah, they're going to be lucky to win a game without Peyton running that offense. To assume otherwise, even with Collins, is silly.

I'm torn. I hate this for Peyton... but I am a Titans fan.

I still have to see him actually miss a game before I will be convinced he will miss one. If he misses any more than one game we will not win the division or make the playoffs. With all the time he has missed this could be a bad season, even if he plays all 16 games. Guess it's about time the yearly 8-8 or one of the two bottom feeders win the division.

The last time Kerry came in with two weeks left until the first game, he went 0-3 and got benched. He was considered old then and that was 5 years ago.

The team he played for then was pretty bad, though, and coming off a 4-12 season. However, after he was benched the team went on a tear and would've made the playoffs had they won the final game of the season. This time he'll have much more dangerous receiving targets and is still a big upgrade over the current roster. Overall, I like the move, but this should've been made as soon as free agency started. Hindsight is 20/20...

Hope he loses every game, but I wish him personal success. :)

As for PM, 2008 was a bad season for him and he missed the entire preseason with that knee problem. Even when he comes back he might have issues getting back into the swing of things.

This division is wide open for the first time in a long time.

Kerry Collins is probably better now than he was then. Also this is the smallest playbook in the NFL. I still don't think he's likely to win much, but this is about as good as it could get.

Yearly 8-8? Watch it. We've had some bad years in between some good years. The Colts are coming up on a decade of irrelevance, and I can see it's frightening you, but there's no reason to get all high and mighty on us.

8-8 was meant for the Texans, Titans and Jags are the bottom feeders.

Total playoff berths

Team Division Champions# Wild Card Berths# Playoff Berths#
Indianapolis Colts 7 (14) 2 (10) 9 (24)
Tennessee Titans 2 (9) 2 (12) 4 (21)
Jacksonville Jaguars 0 (2) 2 (4) 2 (6)
Houston Texans 0 (0) 0 (0) 0 (0)

Yerp. Texans are gonna be the class of the AFC South with the Colts out of the picture.

So you think that if the Colts don't win the division the Titans will win it over the Texans?

I think Houston wins this year, but I think the statement "bottom-feeders" has a historical connotation. The Titans certainly aren't perennial bottom-feeders in that context, although they obviously trail the Colts in that regard. It's an argument on semantics, I guess.

Personally, I think the Titans are better than the Colts without Peyton but he'll be back before the Colts' bye week. So...Who knows.

Interesting. Could you elaborate?

The time frame you are referring to was when he was coming out of Oakland. Those were easily his worst years.

Last year (in 9 games) Collins posted his best passer rating since 2002 (third best of his career).

He's also been in the same offense with the same personnel for many years with the Titans. Not flaming with this statement, but IMO thinking he's better now than he was 5 years ago is wishful thinking. JMO

Of course, I believe the Titans are a 9-7 team with CJ and Britt, so I guess that's some wishful thinking, as well. :salute:

So you think that if the Colts don't win the division the Titans will win it over the Texans?

Okay, so we're changing our arguments mid-flight? In that case, yes, I do think Phillip Rivers is a top-5 QB!

So you think if global warming is disproven, the Pro-Bowl will stay in Hawaii? WTF?

You implied the Texans were somehow a level above the Titans and the Jags. You are way wrong. That's it. The Colts have owned the division, but I think it's less about the franchise than it is about the franchise QB.

Good points. He has better weapons now, but a weaker O-line, so it'll be interesting.

I think the Texans are a better team than the Titans or Jags right now. Today and last season the Texans are a level above the Titans and Jags and have more upside with the personnel each team currently has.

It wasn't meant to be in historical terms, it was mainly just a fun shot at the Titans fans on here. I do think the Titans will finish last or second to last in the division either way.

Would the Colts make the playoffs without Peyton? No way but I still think they would be better than the Titans. Wayne, Clark, Garcon and Collie are way better than anything the Titans have and 2 of the best DE in the game. Indy still has more talent than Titans with or without Peyton

We'll see. I think folks are sleeping on the team from Nashville. Our offensive personnel is as good as it's ever been. Not better than the Colts w/ Peyton, but definitely better than the Colts w/o Peyton. WRs are dependent on the QB. Look what happened to the Cardinals when Kurt Warner left. The Colts w/o Peyton aren't any better than the Cardinals from last year.

2011 Colts vs 2010 Cardinals comparison = Same situation with the WRs (elite pass-catchers), same situation with the OL (below average, except for Saturday), same situation with the RBs (below average). The defense has some nice pieces, but is historically bad, especially without a healthy Bob Sanders. The Cardinals D was pretty similar to the Colts, although the Colts DEs are better than the Cards, but the Cards' secondary is a lot better than the Colts'.

2011 Colts = 2010 Cardinals

2010 Titans > 2010 Cardinals

Therefore...:birgits_giggle:
