The official E3 2016 thread

I was sad to not see any Final Fantasy 7 footage, then I found out it is being directed by the dude who directed every Kingdom Hearts game. So that sucks.

Frankly I thought it was Sony's best conference ever!

Horizon Zero Dawn
Days Gone
The Last Guardian
Spiderman
The Last Guardian
God of War
new Kojima game
Resident Evil 7

I mean it was just one shotgun blast after another. I am stunned quite honestly because I didn't think Sony had a chance to top MS' conference but.... I kinda think they did.

I was wondering where you were. Figured you'd need a cold shower.

I don't see how you thought that conference was meh. I feel like anyone who honestly thought that can never been impressed, ever.

I've never liked God of War, the biker game was just TLOU, RE7 looks cool but it is Silent Hills, Horizon looks cool but it's just another 3rd person action game, I've never cared for Crash Bandicoot. Spider-Man looks cool, Kojima will bring it I'm sure, The Last Guardian hasn't changed in half a decade, and Final Fantasy 15 is Final Fantasy 15. Nothing ground breaking in either Sony or MS's conference. No holy s**t moments aside from Norman Reedus, I suppose. Last year's FF7 reveal got a much larger reaction from the crowd than anything this year.

It sounds to me like you're disgruntled and just actively trying to marginalize every single thing shown. Its one thing to be grounded, its another to be annoyingly contrarian so as to appear to be above it all and too cool to be impressed.

Both MS and Sony had very solid conferences. Owners of either/both should be pleased.

I didn't think Sony's was that special, but was still much better than Microsoft's. Microsoft's was that much more me to me.

I didn't say they weren't good, just okay and leaning on meh. Nothing ground breaking that we hadn't heard about already through leaks. It's okay to be pleased with both conferences and I'm not disgruntled with anything. I just don't think it was the greatest conference ever, as you suggested. Of course, you can be as excited as you'd like. That's fine.

Your fan girling is equally annoying.

In terms of presentation and overall lineups shown, I dont recall a better year from both MS and Sony. If you think thats "fangirling" then fine.

While we're on the subject, What the hell WOULD impress you then if you claim neither were all that impressive?

And theres a big difference between stuff rumored and stuff known about. Games like Spiderman, God of War, Days Gone, Resident Evil 7, Death Stranding, Crash Remake, etc were either unkown or just rumored. None of that had been confirmed beforehand.

God of War set in Scandanavia was rumored a while ago and Capcom hired away Silent Hills developers, big surprise there. Like I said, Crash Bandicoot doesn't appeal to me. Days Gone looks fun, but I thought it was TLOF 2 until the end of the trailer. Recore, Dead Rising, Gears of War, FF15, etc. don't appeal to me.

I said it's cool for you or whoever to be excited about the conferences, but there was nothing at either that wowed me.

I thought RE7 looked cool, and Horizon, and State of Decay 2, and even Spider-Man, but nothing insane that I have to go out and preorder tomorrow. I'm excited about Mass Effect and Skyrim from EA and Bethesda's conferences. Just MS and Sony's particular conferences didn't offer me anything really.

Final Fantasy 7, Red Dead 2, MW separate from IW, DS3 DLC, Bloodborne or Demon's Souls sequel, Dragon Quest 11, BC to some big hits from 360. Anything like that would've impressed me.

Played some of the RE7 demo, pretty scary. Its a big change from RE 6. Hard to believe its the same franchise honestly lol. I have mixed feelings as I wanted a more modernized "classic" RE, but I'll probably get that with RE 2 remake, so im good with this going all out first person horror.

Now that I've had time to process the RE7 news, I'm a bit torn. While I'll definitely take what we're getting over the crap that is RE6, it does seem like they copied the PT/Outlast formula. But I get they needed to change things up so I'm not really upset. I'm also going to assume that since they named it Resident Evil 7 that it's not a complete reboot.

I'm going to download the demo today.

I think both were good. Each have many games I just don't care about. Here is the thing, I take E3 with a grain of salt because most of these games are far away and don't end up looking like what was shown. Sony did a great job at the beginning with all of those games. Once VR was shown I thought it lost its luster. Microsoft should have just shown the Scorpio

With MS unveiling Scorpio a year and a half before it launches, what they're basically doing is admitting defeat. Without actually coming out and saying it, they're acknowledging they have lost this generation and essentially they're attempting to "re set the chess board" early so as to appear to be the aggressor next time around. I like the specs but in the end, it's the games that matter.
