here's what you need to ask yourself about the consideration of Mullen...
first, for argument's sake, let's assume gruden, Patterson, Franklin and Fuente are off the table, for whatever reason. IMO, i don't think Fuente or Franklin would leave, maybe you give the cursory check for interest, but i doubt either of those conversations get so far as offers to be accepted or turned down. maybe Patterson does, and one side balks. maybe gruden is just a pipe dream. whatever the reason, just assume their off the table.......
then you're down to the Mullen, Norvell, Frost, Brohm, Morris etc group....
i think it's important, at least for me, to understand that most, even those that are proping Mullen up like me, are likely going in to it with an understanding that we have/whould/will look at other candidates, likely off that list i mentioned at the top.
but if you're down to that "tier", who would you want, really to get the job out of those names? and for me, it's Frost and Mullen hands down, no questions asked, take either one.
of course, if one of those guys at the top is gettable, most (not all certainly) would say "yeah, get him".
my issue with the mullen debate is that if he's a viable candidate at that point, and he is the guy, i think many of you just need to look at him in the correct context and understand that he is a good coach, and is in no way the same as us settling for Dooley and Jones previously.
and as i've stated several times, he's not my #1 either. but i would not lose a wink of sleep if he gets the job.
that only happens if we see a guy like Norvell, Brohm etc...get the job. then i think it is safe to assume things did not go according to plan.
