It's just your turn.

I will say this: If you go back and track the history between GV and me, once I decided (years later than I should have) to bring my AR into the 21st Century, every dollar that he talked me in to spending was well worth it. Not to brag, and my gun is not all that tricked out, but in terms of a pure, simple, combat rifle, I'm very pleased with what I have.

And GV played a huge role in that.

So just relax and keep clicking on "Buy Now". Sooner or later, he'll get bored with you and move on to the next victim...lol.

Lol. No I started first. I had a Rock River AR with a carry handle upper and wanted a flat top. He recommended buying an upper. I mistakenly ordered an upper that would have made my gun an illegal SBR. Changed the order to a 16" barrel. Still had to take the shorter barrel. I was explained constructive intent. It was suggested I build a pistol. GV said I needed some skill to put one together. Little did he know at the time he challenged me. 16 ARs later in various configurations and calibers, and much to my wife's chagrin, he's still spending my money. :)

I don't want this post to come across as me being an a-hole, so please don't take it that way. But I cannot go through every DA .45 on the market.

No, I would not buy a Witness based on my previous experience. Others have had good luck, but not in my personal experience.

My best and final offer list is as follows for a .45 DA pistol:

Sig P220 (single stack)
Sig P227 (double stack)
HK45
FN FNX
CZ97B

By one of the above with confidence and don't look back. If price is a problem, roll your pennies and be patient. Any on that list will give you a lifetime of fun and reliable service.

I'm flattered you value my opinion and I'm not trying to be a dick. But buy once, cry once. Any of the ones I listed are worth the wait and price.

Ok. Trust me, I won't bother you with it again. Just came across it. Thought you might be familiar. It's not a money thing as it's as pricey if not more as some of the others.

Edit: Never meant to be a bother. I appreciate all the pointers you've given me in the past. I've got other resources I can pull from in the future. :hi:

Meh. When I am out back shooting, I want everybody within 5 miles to know I am shooting it.


Kind of an interesting story, I was talking to a local sheriff's officer one day and we could hear some shooting going on. He could give me an idea of not only what kind of weapon it was, but where it was being shot. (In very general terms) They know.

I am really thinking of 'pulling the trigger' on that M1. Just trying to figure out how to sell it to the missus. It does look like the CMP has a good deal.

I did like it but it had mechanical issues that I did not care for and wouldn't personally buy the brand again. However, I do try to be objective in what I tell people and try to give them options. I was trying not to go right out and say it which is why I suggested the CZ-97 over the Witness.

A DA 1911 is a unicorn. Or if someone created one outside a mainstream manufacturer, I'd be suspect. The closest thing you've ever going to get to that kind of thing is a CZ which is more or less an "improved, double action" Hi-Power.

Sorry, Grand. I missed it. Again, I appreciate your pointers. The last thing I wanted to do was wear out my welcome and it appears I may have. Your information has always been free flowing to all posters on here and I didn't mean to wear you out. You're a good dude generous with your info. I'll try and keep my questions to a minimum. :hi:

Personally, a double action 1911 takes away the best thing about the 1911, the trigger.

Regardless, I'd say it's hard to find parts for them these days. And with Colt hitting the financial rocks about every other year, I wouldn't trust having that avenue open that long for warranty or shop service.

Of course, there's always Numrich, but that won't last either.

If the Good Lord intended for JMB to make a DA 1911, he would have graced that pistol with it from the start. Alas, we got perfection on the second try.

Meh, it didn’t sell well, as expected. Colt has a history of producing products that make folk scratch their head and say wtf? That said, colt isn’t going anywhere, anytime soon. Somebody will buy them and continue their horrendous business decisions, it’s almost a prerequisite of owning colt lol

Speaking of horrendous business decisions, let’s examine one of Colts from their recent past. Colt released reproduction models of the early A1 AR15’s. That’s fine and dandy and I may have picked one up, then I saw the price tag, $2600. Needless to say, they sold slowly.

Now, brownells on the other hand, while not technically “correct” in every detail of every model, knocked it out of the park with their Retro rifle series. Mainly because they were priced competitively at around $1200.

Ah, colt.....

Remember, Colt didn't stop sending their 6920 line with a flip up BUIS until about two or three years ago. Continued to send the carry handle as a standard part.

And remember that complicated Rogers stock they slapped on for a while?

Yes, completely unwise decisions on Colt's part over the past...40 years. They've tried to sell on a name alone when others are completely outperforming them like a mother.

Let Bravo Company buy them and sell as a subsidiary.
