The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Totally agree. She’s a cool lady, but they admittedly have an odd approach to things.

I’m just in Karns so it was incredibly convenient to stop by after leaving Oak Ridge. I guess I’ll be shopping for another place to transfer through.

I've heard Knoxville Tactical up on Emory road near the interstate will probably be my go to. They're a little more expensive but it will still be convenient for me as I'm in the Powell area myself.

I do like sigs in general. I've looked at the czs but they are difficult to find, even new.

The 97 model? I had an EAA Witness clone of that one at one point. I liked it even though it was a beast.

I would go with the CZ or the 220. But the 220 is pretty much the standard everyone wants to be.

I like the H&K too. I'll probably go to buds and shoot them all if they have them available. Searching the internet I haven't found anyone with the 97B or the BD.

Good deal, I’ll look into them. They did a good job helping a coworker with a gun raffle

Got my G43 last night! Ordered an Alien Gear Shapeshift holster and picked up some HST 124g rounds. Going to the range in a couple hours to test it out

Ok guys, here's a good one. My nephew bought some factory ammo, at least that's what we were told. I'm trying to get in touch with him now. The cases are marked 224 Remington. My brother went to shoot his ar and it sounded funny. We looked and it was obvious to me it something was amiss. The bullet diameter was very small. I mic'd it to .17. otherwise the cartridge was the same. Anyone heard of such?

let me know what you think of the holster....It looks kinda thick, so wondering about comfort

Possibly?

.17 Remington - Wikipedia

Or

.17-223 - Wikipedia

And the picture certainly isn't .223 caliber.

Reloads, I take it?

We're trying to figure it out. We didn't reload. My nephew loaded up a mag. We shot 2-3 and they cycled fine but sounded weird. So we pulled the mag and noticed the bullets didn't look right. Could someone load .17 caliber bullets in a .223 cartridge and it crimp it down?

Looks like it might be the 17-223. It's got Norma on the case as well. Had to snap a picture and blow it up to read it.

I like it so far. It's really comfortable and not bulky (for my 43 anyway). The lady said I talked to at Alien Gear said it's less bulky than the Cloak Tuck. Keep in mind the only baseline I have is from carrying a gun that's probably twice as heavy, so TIFWIW.

Yes, someone could resize the brass to accept a .17 caliber cartridge and could be any number of different ones. It's mainly a wildcat cartridge (see the second link), so there isn't any telling which specific load they went with.

Regardless, I'd send that crap back and demand a refund. No swaps, just straight refund of money and buy from someone reputable.

They think they bought it local. They're going to look at the box when they get home. It could be their mistake and just read the box wrong. I think it was original factory ammo. It was marked 223 NORMA which if you look at that wiki page it mentions NORMA. My guess is my brother picked up the wrong box.

Norma is pretty good about marking their brass correctly even for wildcats.

Regardless, I'd get a refund.

He lives in the boro and won't return home until tomorrow. He has the box at home.
I'm interested to see what/where it came from. I'll report back what I find out.

Glad "sounded weird" is all that came out of that.

Yea, I think since the bullet was smaller it just blew the bullet out. Obviously a lot of the gas would have escaped around. We ran a cleaning rod through it to make sure the barrel wasn't obstructed.

Was there enough gas pressure to cycle the bolt?
