I own a small bedside gun safe. Not sure what the band is. Anyway, I don't have anything in it but went to use it and the batteries are dead. It came with keys but I think they are locked up inside. :cray:. Do I take it to a locksmith to pick it?

Yea. Is it a tubular/barrel key or straight up and down normal key?

Hey guys! I see some familiar names in here. My first visit to this thread. I recently bought a Bersa Thunder .380 and I am planning to get my carry license after the first of the year. Need the Christmas cash for the fee. :)

Nice piece! I've got 2 different models of them and they both have 100% reliability to date.

I was able to shoot mine once and was very accurate, out to 20 paces or so. Very pleased, and seems like it will be fairly easy to conceal.

No kidding. I didn't realize it existed. I guess I didn't associate Tennessee football with guns an ammo, but what the heck was I thinking? "Hey ya'll, watch this!"

Ha! Yea some of the best threads are in the Pub. Hell I almost hate the football forum.

But back to guns, if you like that Thunder, try to find a CC model. It's wonderful for carry, hence the CC. Same gun but slimmer and holds an extra round.

My batteries were drained and had corroded the terminals a little... Hence my need for replacement.

Hey guys, I am looking for some input from people who know more than me. I am looking at getting a DSA Fal. Its got to be a Fal, don't try selling me an AR just yet.

From the research I have done DSA was really good 5-10 years ago, maybe not so much now? Even if the quality is a bit down I still have several things I like about them over the competition, Imbel being the main. Made in America, yes I know the FN is Belgium too; comes as a gun, as a newb to guns I don't want to have to pick out top and bottom receivers etc etc and then take it to a smith. Lastly is DSA seems to make everything that I need with it, while what I have read of Imbel is to order this piece from Imbel this piece from somewhere else. I know its done all the time but I really like the idea of getting a single item more or less ready to go.

another item is price, what I was seeing and calculating the DSA was coming in cheaper; but if quality is suspect the benefit of that price goes out the window imo.

anyway just looking for any advice possible. and if anyone is from the Atlanta area and can point me to a good brick and mortar gun shop I would appreciate it. I have gone and talked with Stoddards and they seemed good but I figured its worth looking around.

Why the FAL? You should get an AR-10. :)

DSA from what I know is still good to go, especially with the FAL series. Kinda pricey, but if your heart is set on it, go for it.

Yep, the FAL comes in a close second to the M14 to me, as far as battlerifles are concerned.

I second GV here, DSA rifles are good to go, you'll be well pleased.

I have fired a couple ARs, years ago, and I remember just not being too impressed. especially with how solid the guns felt. When I was at Stoddards I handled a couple and there was always something that rattled too much. Like I said I am new to this and I want something I can pick up and go with instead of something that needs some tinkering.

as far as an FAL vs any of the older battlerifles out there it comes down to look tbh. and I am not looking for something with the range of the M14

That tends to be the attraction behind the AR series (whether 10 or 15) is the ability to tinker with it. It truly is the most modular weapon in history. And there are devices out there that can help clean up the slop in a stock AR.

But to be honest, that FAL will get you somewhat close to the range of the M14. At least within what most shooters are capable of. Out to 500 or so, most won't be able to tell the difference. Beyond that, the M14 platform tends to outshine most save the AR10 platform. The FAL does have some inherent problems, namely the lack of spare parts and commonality between the inch pattern and metric pattern FALs.

Anyhow, another option might be the PTR-91 if you are looking along the lines of a .308 system. I had one and appreciated it for what it was, a heavy, reliable rifle that goes bang and generally hits what you're aiming at.

It's just a thought, but, how about an AK? You can get into a very nice Arsenal for around $800-$1200 depending on options and origin. The only thing you'll need to do is put ammo in it.

One thing you'll need to keep in mind while contemplating battlerifles is .308 is very expensive, and that cost could keep you from learning the rifle on the range. While 7.62x39 and even 5.56/.223 are much cheaper. The savings you get could be used to take a class and really learn how to drive the rifle.

The PTR 91's are great rifles. I wish they would clone the 93. I had an hk93 I ended up trading years ago (stupid, I know) that was one sweet shooting carbine. So many regrets on gun trades over the years.... sigh...

Been on a buying spree - picked up a Walther CCP today. Love the size and ergos. Big complaint online was takedown and while it's a bit of a pain in the arse it's not that big a deal.
