The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Well my two lowers are scheduled to be delivered tomorrow to my ffl. My free floating rail comes also. I picked up all the parts at the last gun show so I should have everything assembled sometime this weekend. I'll post some picks when done.

Is joining the NRA worth it in your alls opinion? What does their gun insurance actually cover? Thought about joining, but want some actual opinions first.

I'd say no. If you want to support gun rights, join the gun owners of America or the Jews for the preservation of firearm ownership. I turned my back on the nra and canceled my life membership over the assault weapon ban in 1994.

I know nothing about the nra's insurance.

I think yes. The lobby on the other side of the fence is pretty fanatical. I want one just as fanatical on my side.

It appears my M-14 days are coming to a close. Turning 40 last August has made me realize I can't do the things I used to do. So, it appears I'll be deciding between my AK's or my AR's. Kinda sucks because I like the thump of .308 at distance. But, truth be told I can't see for **** anymore.

Scoped AR 10?

Good buddy of mine recommended gun owners of America as well.

Check out jpfo as well. They're hardcore, as it should be. They send you a bunch of material when joining. And they don't solicit you every day for cash like the nra.

AN OPEN LETTER TO TED NUGENT: ?THE DAY I?LL JOIN THE NRA?

Or, you could just go ahead and buy all the guns you want and do as you wish, not caring about the next bit of stupid legislation.

What will one set me back?

I got mine for 570 a couple years ago. There are so many variants though. I prefer the yugos because the receiver is .5 mm thicker. They put an RPK receiver on it. The Hungarian AMD is good. You can get one for 499 off cheaper than dirt. Downside is front pistol grip but it can be changed out with new hand guards. 7.62x39mm ammo is also cheaper than 5.56 and AKs will eat all of it. 12 countries produce AKs most have civilian equivalents. In my mind, the Zastava Armory makes the best. I feel guilty sometimes because my family is Croatian and Gypsy. I am supposed to hate Serbians but they make some fine weapons. Another route if you want to go unique is the vz2008 you can find them for about the same price but they are different from the AK. Same ammo but the action is is short stroke and ejection port is huge. The Czechs make good firearms too.

Stay away from the century made VZ 58 they're rubbish.

Prices have went crazy, but it's a solid little carbine. I have one I've put through the ringer and its still running. They aren't a varient of the ak, they are a big screw you to the Russians from the Czech people.

Check Atlantic Firearms!s out. They have almost every AK variant plus some other cool stuff like Tavors, Scorpions, and some CETME rifles.

Wat about this one? It's a century but made in Yugoslavia in the factory you recommended.

The M70AB2 is a clone of the military version (minus the capability for automatic fire). The NPAP is the civilian model of the M70AB2. Some feature were taken away. No bulged trunion, no grenade sights. The NPAP is a Zastava build where the M70AB2 is a Century build from Zastava parts.

The NPAP, OPAP, and M70 series rifles in my opinion are superior to all AKs minus the Egyptian Mahdi and depending on the day the Polish Tantil.

Cant go wrong with the NPAP. Keep in mind with the under folders that the cheek weld can be uncomfortable. They do make rests to mount on the stock.
