The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

In the middle of trying to obtain my CCW in California. Already had my handgun carry permit in TN before I moved. Have to establish good cause. Already had interview with sheriff and did livescan yesterday. I'll let you know how it goes

Good cause? Such as being a human being?

Interesting. I've long since been skeptical of the .380. Now, with the rise of these ultra compact pistols like the ruger LCP, I'm afraid people are walking around with detriments as opposed to fight stoppers. But, it's better than throwing rocks, I guess.

Meh, it has it's place. I think the biggest problem with .380s is the overconfidence people will have with it. But at the same time, I'd prefer not to get shot with one as I would suspect most attackers would feel the same way.

I've always wanted them to do a bit more with the .32 ACP myself. It's ideally sized for a pocket compact and loaded decently enough for most fights. A modern iteration of the Tomcat or similar pistol would be great (anything other than a Kel-Tec)

My 65' Ppk is a .32 and I love it. Way better than the Smith .380 version

I agree. The tomcat is quite a nice little pistol.

Is joining the NRA worth it in your alls opinion? What does their gun insurance actually cover? Thought about joining, but want some actual opinions first.

I'm a life member. Other than the constant solicitations for more money, it's important to have someone lobby for gun owners. Probably going to be even more important in the next few years given our options for POTUS. I suspect we'll see attacks on the 2nd like we've never seen before.

The magazine is pretty good too.

I asked this in the AR thread and got no response: I noticed a lot of free floating rails come with AL barrel nuts, is that an issue?

I've always heard aluminum nuts in free float rails is ok since the nut is easier to get to and less likely to have the threads stripped. Now, whether or not that's true or not I don't know. Better question for grand.

Thanks guys. They recommend torquing to 30lbs. Loosening several times and retorquing to 30lbs. Then tightening up to 80 if necessary to align gas tube hole. Also, lithium grease to prevent galling of threads.

That's typically the route to take.

Just make sure that gas tube port is aligned correctly at the gas block.
