Let's also be honest, Stackhouse knew well before last night those two were sitting out with "injury"
The guys who played in their place weren't exactly scrubs either. We went in expecting to play a certain style of ball with Disu/Pippen in their lineup and prepared for that matchup. Less than an hour before the game they were no longer playing and with that little of time we couldn't really adjust/gameplan differently. Held them to 22 points in the first half. They got hot from 3 in the second half and hit 8 of their 13 to keep the game close, but with Vandy basically playing "small ball" without Disu the transition game and run out wasn't really available for us, plus we as a team committed a ton of TOs which slowed transition offense as well.
Foul trouble & Vandy playing small ball also limited minutes for our "bigs" so Fulky/ORN combined for just 20. Honestly the thing that held us from blowing it wide open was Keon, James & Santi not having great games. Collectively they each only hit 1 from the field and combined for a 3-16 night, but each played 27/28 minutes. So we got carried by Bailey/Springer and Pons....if any of the other 3 guards who saw significant minutes plays to their averages it's a 20+ point win going away.
So really my biggest takeaway is we gotta do a better job with turnovers and poor fouls, Keon/Fulky both had a few that were 100% on them making dumb decisions and both seem to let fouls impacted their game more than other players do.
