The Official #25 Tennessee @ Vanderbilt Game Thread, 9:00 PM ET, SEC Network

12 because of free throws, again did you watch the same game everyone else did? Obviously not, this team had no rhythm, was sloppy on offense and just clogged their way through. Put this team in front of Arky, and the result is very different today.
I just shuddered.

Many of you sound like you think Vandy doesn’t have a coach who tries to figure out ways to win, doesn’t have players that try to improve as the season progresses. That they are just a bunch of static robots programmed once at the beginning of the year and thus predictably play the exact same every game all year.

Bama beat them by four at home their previous game. A 12 point win at Vandy on that crappy court is a win to be proud of any year in any situation. At least for me it is.

16-6 (9-6)

Let’s put away Auburn and win a few in Nashville.

If we get to 20 wins we’re probably a 4 or 5 seed.
Barnes beating Pearl who has basically 2 players left? Seems like...parden the pun...a slam dunk. So why do I feel like Auburn's scrubs are gonna look like a group of World B Frees on fire? (Younger guys can look it up)

Wonder if Bruce will press hell out of us or pack the paint? I'm guessing he'll force us to show we can beat the press given our beat down and exhausted look of late...if he has the bodies left to do it. Still, it's a game that...like every other opponent these days...worries me. Nothing ever easy with UT. Always something to deal with. Damned drama U.

I just saw the replay of Keon's 2 hand dunk in the last 3 minutes and Bert said, "well, that was nasty". Bwaa-ha-ha, I love Bert
Did you catch the play where he walked before going up for a dunk or the perfectly thrown alley oop pass he fumbled away? For every wow play he makes there’s 3-4 real head scratchers. He and Fulky are the 2 guys who potentially could raise their level of play enough to create a deep run in the tourney IMO

Got the win, AND we covered (-10.5). In that pit of hell where we've had so many misadventures through the years.

I guess I'm just not that hard to please.
I keep hearing folks using covering the spread as justification of good play......you guys do know the spread was determined before the injuries players were made known? We were supposed to beat them by 12 at full strength

The Tigers will bully us, play down hill, and launch 3s. The Vols will struggle big time and the turnaround from returning home at 3 am today and noon tip-off will be too much.
Hope I’m wrong, but doubtful...

And you will never know if they would have. Maybe Keon wouldn’t have had his worse game of the year if he was playing against better talent. You can speculate all you want but reality is we won a very sloppy game. I don’t even care about the point spread.

I did watch the game. But keep spewing what you like. I could say Vandy was only close because of 3’s. See how that works.

Yeah, MGM did a +175 line boost for Vols to win by 10. I took that bet and you could have even hedged that against Vandy covering and still made money. That's why I like MGM Sportsbook. I've got Fanduel and MGM and I can say MGM runs circles around FD in terms of incentives. They hand out free $ 5 bets like candy.

I could have made a difference tonight. If you ask my friends they’ll tell you that if you get me on the court I am trouble, last week F’d around and got a triple double .

Thanks. I didn’t remember he was a sophomore. Hopefully with Chandler running point, VBJ will be able to find his shot on a regular basis. Not let’s please get a big man that can get a basket when you absolutely have to have it.

I was wrong. VJ is actually a RS Junior, but he’ll be a Junior for the 3rd time next year. But however he’s labeled (a 5th year Junior next year?) he has 2 more years of eligibility AFTER this year.

I don’t understand why Nkamhoua isn’t getting more minutes. Yeah he’s a little limited athletically but we got separation in the first half when he was in there and got us a couple easy buckets right at the rim that we don’t get with Fulkerson and I think he’s a better rebounder than Fulky also. I think one thing that hurts us, is that Fulkersons posts are so far away from the basket that it hurts our spacing and takes away some driving lanes.
His stats are better than fulk in less than half the minutes, I don’t understand why Barnes keeps playing fulk more than ON

With 50% of their scoring not playing, sure whatever, we played like #@&$

Let's also be honest, Stackhouse knew well before last night those two were sitting out with "injury"

The guys who played in their place weren't exactly scrubs either. We went in expecting to play a certain style of ball with Disu/Pippen in their lineup and prepared for that matchup. Less than an hour before the game they were no longer playing and with that little of time we couldn't really adjust/gameplan differently. Held them to 22 points in the first half. They got hot from 3 in the second half and hit 8 of their 13 to keep the game close, but with Vandy basically playing "small ball" without Disu the transition game and run out wasn't really available for us, plus we as a team committed a ton of TOs which slowed transition offense as well.

Foul trouble & Vandy playing small ball also limited minutes for our "bigs" so Fulky/ORN combined for just 20. Honestly the thing that held us from blowing it wide open was Keon, James & Santi not having great games. Collectively they each only hit 1 from the field and combined for a 3-16 night, but each played 27/28 minutes. So we got carried by Bailey/Springer and Pons....if any of the other 3 guards who saw significant minutes plays to their averages it's a 20+ point win going away.

So really my biggest takeaway is we gotta do a better job with turnovers and poor fouls, Keon/Fulky both had a few that were 100% on them making dumb decisions and both seem to let fouls impacted their game more than other players do.

Vandy started an underachieving senior, Freshmen and a walkon.

3am return? Whew. I agree. It will have to have an impact. Then again the way we've played lately we might not notice a difference.
