The Nick Stephens for Starting QB Thread

I think everyone is behind the team. Having a different opinion doesnt change the fact that someone is not behind the team.
Yes we have an all star staff. but when do they say enough is enough with crompton??

It's pretty safe to say everyone is behind this team and they have showed that they are not gonna roll over and quit. That being said, WE HAVE NO ONE AT QB BETTER THAN CROMPTON. What are you gonna say if NS were to start a couple games and have 5 INT's or so. Bring in Lamaison? Jeez, hope not. We simply DO NOT have a top notch talent at QB this year so give it a rest. We just gotta make do with what we have this year and the best we have IS CROMPTON. Let Bray come in and win the job as a freshman and get another stud for the 2011 class. There's a storm brewin' in Knoxville and I'm looking forward to the ride!!! GO BIG ORANGE!!!

He's not the answer either...not right now at least. IF Bray doesn't come in and win the job next year, I'd say Lamaison gives NS a run for his money...he's not quite there yet though.

Bray will win the job, hands down. he just has to walk on campus in Jan. and the job is his

Syephens was in the same class as Bradford and McCoy and was rated about the same as those guys. Don't know what all this career backup talk crap is about. He looked great in his second game against UGA....beter than any game Crompton has ever had...at least against a decent opponent. Has a lot of potential IMO.

you know you posted this twice right?

No kidding. but what if he came in and threw 5 TD's. now that is a total flip of the coin huh. hell no leave lamaison on the pine, we all knew he was practice team anyway.
Bray is the QB of the future for UT, but we are talking about now

When has NS EVER shown he can come in and throw 5 TDs. He maybe could next week against Ohio, but I guarantee you he wouldn't be ANY better than JC against UGA or Auburn, or even today for that matter.

Yeah, I'm not the one who said I want Stephens for taking chances. The thread was started for the exact opposite reason. Stephens takes care of the ball. He almost broke UT's record last year of consecutive pass attempts without an INT. I'm not saying he's good, but desparation took hold of me.

He did that, but I still have a hard time seeing how. I'm not high on him. It seems like his strength is the deep ball. I don't think our crappy pass blocking is suited for that.

he wouldnt be any worse either! Crompton lit up WKU and everyone went nuts, UCLA came to town and reality hit the fan.

Well I guess In Crompton we Trust, but I don't think we make it to a bowl with no threat of a pass. And that makes me sick.

What could it hurt? We already know we can't beat a decent team with JC. Our opponents know exactly what to expect from Crompton. Maybe putting Stephens in would throw them off a little.

You're probably right. UT will just have to grind this one out.

well the nickel and dime stuff aint working either

If he's gonna be the same, then what is the point in bringing him in? All that does is change the cadence, change timing all around, and ANY and ALL chemistry that JC has with the offense at this point. If NS isn't going to make us better, then what really is the point in making the change?

the nickel and dime stuff may be all we have this year.. I'm hoping that oku/brown can turn those dimes into long gains...

the whole point is that we dont know what would happen

But we do...we all saw how amazing NS was last season. Blame it on the Clawfense or whatever, but he has yet to show me anything that tells me he is our guy. I've been to several practices and the talent just simply IS NOT there with either guy.

The problem with Crompton is that he's too slow making decisions and too slow delivering the ball! The first interception was all him--he was late with the ball, which gave the gator time to get back into position to pick it. Had he thrown it on time, it would not have been picked....When you lock in on receivers and wait too long to throw, you have a recipe for picks...

Bryce Brown cost the Vols a TD on their first down--missed a big hole and lost two yards. With hardesty, we're in the end zone.
