The Nick Stephens for Starting QB Thread

Just because he has a different opinion doesn't mean he hates the Vols.

Appreciate it. Love our Volunteers just as much as anybody, and I'm also tired of our QB play like everybody else.

Kiffin and his staff don't have it easy.

Bring on Stephens he is cocky, he is confident and he takes chances to win a game.

I would rather take my knocks with the QB that will be here next year to gain chemistry with my backs and receivers than to go out like a chump with Mr. Crompton(to keep me from saying what i really feel)

Hilarious. Bring on the blowouts.

I am as frustrated as any Vol fan out there, but if Lane Kiffin believed that Nick Stephens was indeed the answer to our below-average QB play, then Nick Stephens would be on the field. I don't buy the notion that Coach Kiffin has any philosophy other than to get the players on the field he believes gives this team the best opportunity to win games. If he believed that to be Stephens, then that is who would be on the field. I'm going to trust Coach Kiffin and hope that this team can continue to give us signs of hope for the future.

EXACTLY...great post.

Exactly! So people need to quit *****ing over it and get behind the team and move forward.

I think everyone is behind the team. Having a different opinion doesnt change the fact that someone is not behind the team.
Yes we have an all star staff. but when do they say enough is enough with crompton??

but God forbid someone have a different opinion on here

Well odds are if you have an opinion there will be someone who disagrees with it. That's what makes message board debates so fun. Just back up your views.

It doesn't take long though for the QB carousel people to start trying to divide the team.

kpt, should I put my money on our Colts Monday night?

What's the spread?

Anyway, I'm not saying Stephens sucks, but we don't want a QB just because he "takes chances". If anything, that was a major reason we lost the UCLA game. We're a ball control, destroy them on defense kind of team. Avoid lots of turnovers and we can hang with good teams.

WE HAVE NO ONE BETTER THAN CROMPTON. What are you gonna say if NS were to start a couple games and have 5 INT's or so. Bring in Lamaison? Jeez, hope not. We simply DO NOT have a top notch talent at QB this year so give it a rest. We just gotta make do with what we have this year and the best we have IS CROMPTON. Let Bray come in and win the job as a freshman and get another stud for the 2011 class. There's a storm brewin' in Knoxville and I'm looking forward to the ride!!! GO BIG ORANGE!!!

Led Mt. San Antonio to the California State Championship game by completing 66.7% of his passes for over 3,500 yards, 38 touchdowns and only seven interceptions

P.S. this boy is in Knoxville

oh I know, I am just at my wits end with Crompton, I will support him with all i got for the next 9-10 games but I would love to see something else.
If it fails, it fails. What we have now has already failed

Stephens is on the bench for a reason, folks!!!! I trust the coaching staff. When/If they decide to make the switch, then I will support it, but until then we need to get behind Crompton!

Indy +3

Yeah, I'm not the one who said I want Stephens for taking chances. The thread was started for the exact opposite reason. Stephens takes care of the ball. He almost broke UT's record last year of consecutive pass attempts without an INT. I'm not saying he's good, but desparation took hold of me.

If Lamaison ever starts a game at UT, we will be up Poop Creek.

He's not the answer either...not right now at least. IF Bray doesn't come in and win the job next year, I'd say Lamaison gives NS a run for his money...he's not quite there yet though.

Stay with Crompton....Stephens has not proven anything....3/9...two picks against Wyoming...no thank you

Okay, everyone keeps bringing up the Wyoming game. Obviously, that was an awful game for Stephens... but he did take care of the ball in pretty much every other game he played last year.

No kidding. but what if he came in and threw 5 TD's. now that is a total flip of the coin huh. hell no leave lamaison on the pine, we all knew he was practice team anyway.
Bray is the QB of the future for UT, but we are talking about now
