The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

Actually Vandy was 1-2 against mid-majors this year (beat MTSU).

Just because I'm bored at work, I took the liberty of looking up the record of other SEC teams and their other conference opponents.

Alabama - 4-0 (1 P5 Wisconsin, 1 FCS)
Arkansas - 2-2 (1 P5 Texas Tech, 1 FCS) (Texas Tech & Toledo loss)
Auburn - 4-0 (1 FCS, 1 P5 Louisville)
Florida - 3-1 (1 P5 FSU) (FSU loss)
Georgia - 4-0 (1 FCS, 1 P5 GA Tech)
Kentucky - 3-1 (1 FCS, 1 P5 Louisville) (Louisville loss)
LSU - 3-0 (1 P5 Syracuse) (FCS McNeese State cancelled)
MSU - 4-0 (1 FCS)
Mizzou - 4-0 (1 FCS, 1 indie BYU)
Ole Miss - 3-1 (1 FCS) (Memphis loss)
USCe - 2-2 (2 P5 Clemson & UNC, 1 FCS) (Clemson and FCS Citadel losses)
UT - 3-1 (1 P5 OU, 1 FCS) (OU loss)
TAM - 4-0 (1 P5 Arizone State, 1 FCS)
Vandy - 2-2 (1 FCS) (Houston loss, WKU loss)

So by looking at that list, we have the SEC losing to:

P5 - 4 times (2 of which are playoff teams)
G5 - 4 times
FCS - 1 time (USCe loss to the Citadel)

Statistically, USCe was the absolute bottom in representing the SEC this year with a loss to an FCS school. However, Vandy and Arkansas are not far behind save the fact one lost to a P5 school and another to a ranked team, though getting skunked in the process.

Statistically yes. Correct here. I cut USCe a tad bit of slack playing both Clemson and UNC - both landed in ACC championship game.

It wouldn't shock me if Vandy beat a talent less South Carolina team at home to open the 2016 season.

If this happens Muschumps head explodes.

I've thought about this in the past. My alma mater is MTSU, and I cheer for their athletics. But to me a good MTSU season is going 8-4 with a win over a P5 team. I have no delusions that the Blue Raiders will ever make a BCS Bowl.

Thankfully, I've been a Tennessee fan my entire life, so I have a team that actually has the fanbase/facilities/money/tradition to go all the way.

Vandy fans are sort of stuck in the middle. At least MTSU posts a winning record more often than not, even though they play weak competition. Vandy has been a cellar dweller for a century and has no legitimate hope of ever getting out of it and almost every team they play dwarfs them in winning percentage and overall history as a football program.

As a MTSU alum...I agree wholeheartedly

It makes you wonder what he would be like at a tee ball game his son were playing in and an umpire made a bad call during the game.

Two men in white will guide Muschamp out of Vanderbilt Stadium in a straitjacket.:eek:lol:

Before that happens, two men in white and back will guide him and the Gamecocks about 45 yards closer to their endzone, in 15 yard increments, as his assistants and players roll their eyes and hide their faces in shame.

Not necessarily about Vandy, but a big slam against them when talking about USCe

But maybe some of the Gamecock fans panning Muschamp on social media over the weekend feel a little better about a 2016 schedule that opens with a Thursday night game at Vanderbilt and includes soft non-conference games against East Carolina, UMass and Western Carolina.

Here comes a winning record.

Since 2012, Vandy has opened their season on Thursday night. And has gone 0-4. Even with a new HC in Will Muschamp, what are the chances he has something to prove and ends up using Vandy as a punching bag?

I actually think Vandy will beat them. Muschamp won't be able to turn around USC's defense overnight and Vandy's defense will still be pretty good next year. Mason is a clueless dolt, but I kinda hope he schools Muschamp on opening night of the season.

I'm torn. I don't like Muschamp in the least.

But I really despise Vandy.

On the same token, I have no issues with USCe descending back down to the gutter, but not usurping Vandy's spot as the SEC door mat. So, begrudgingly, I would hope USCe comes away with the win.

Of course. There's a strong belief among Vandy fans that we have had Bama level talent since 2005, but somehow four head coaches in a row have squandered it.

Maybe they will tie and both get to 5 1/2 wins. Left out of bowl because Poly Tech Regional of Loyola Lower Mississippi travels better.
