The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

In all seriousness, can you imagine how depressing it is to be a Vandy fan? You never have National championship hopes. Hell, you hardly ever have bowl hopes. Year after year, you're looking forward to which FCS teams you'll beat to win your 2 or 3 games a year.

Lol. Just kidding. Their fans suck and they deserve everything they get.

I've thought about this in the past. My alma mater is MTSU, and I cheer for their athletics. But to me a good MTSU season is going 8-4 with a win over a P5 team. I have no delusions that the Blue Raiders will ever make a BCS Bowl.

Thankfully, I've been a Tennessee fan my entire life, so I have a team that actually has the fanbase/facilities/money/tradition to go all the way.

Vandy fans are sort of stuck in the middle. At least MTSU posts a winning record more often than not, even though they play weak competition. Vandy has been a cellar dweller for a century and has no legitimate hope of ever getting out of it and almost every team they play dwarfs them in winning percentage and overall history as a football program.

I'm just waiting for them to start their yearly rant thread about how an 8-4 Tennessee or a 7-5 Arkansas team got better bowl invitations than they did when they went 8-4 in both 2012 and 2013.

Can't wait for that hilarity.

That exact thread is there now.:loco:
Here's the quote...

24 months ago, on that Sunday night when we were 8-4 and had beaten Tennessee, Florida AND Georgia in the same year and should have gone to Jax, or at least Memphis or Nashville again, and instead got sent to Birmingham, I told my son that this might be the beginning of the end of Vanderbilt football.... or at the very least a blow from which it would take years to recover.
For me, that was proof definitive that the powers that be in the NCAA and the SEC didn't want a small private school such as Vanderbilt to go to a good bowl.

Oh boo hoo. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that their fans won't drive 15 min to fill their own stadium, much less travel.

adam sparks tried to write a article about reasons vandy will be in a bowl next yr hahaha. So funny. The same staff and players who are 7-17 the past two years are not about to just turn it around and be a good football team. Go get some talent if you want to make a bowl, Mason. It'll be similiar to this yr IMO. Theres still no offensive talent and it'll be the last yr for several of their other defensive players like Butler and McGaster.
