The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

7-5 still sounds much better to me than 2-10 or 1-11 with a completely dead program.

Our worst case scenario is that Butch continues to underachieve while stocking the roster, gets fired in Dec. 2016, and we're able to land a top-notch, proven coach. Their worst case scenario is that David Williams gives Mason another year to completely kill their program.

Serious question Aesius. Hypothetically if Butch gets fired in 2016, who will we hire? Our AD is notorious for hiring on the cheap. After Kiffin, Dooley, and then Butch, the fan base would not accept anything less than Gruden.

Man, I don't know. It feels premature to even discuss this, but in 2 weeks it will either be a laughable proposition or a very real possibility.

I think first you have to look at established, elite coaches who might be willing to get a new start somewhere else. I'm not sure there are any as of Sept. 2015. Things could change, of course.

By late 2016 the roster should be absolutely stacked, so getting interest from coaches wouldn't be an issue. Butch would have done all of the hard work for them. I also think boosters would be so fed up with losing that paying Butch's buyout/the initial coach's salary wouldn't be an issue, especially if they had a big fish on the line.

Basically, anyone who walks into the job in Dec. 2016 would walk into an amazing situation. Top-notch facilities and a top 10 roster. It would be one of the most appealing CFB job openings in recent memory, that's for sure. Comparable only to Bama in 2007 and UF in 2005.

One guy to watch if he misses the playoffs this year due to a single bad loss is Gary Patterson. He wanted the job before we hired Kiffin and I don't think he would turn it down again under these circumstances.

Our buddy immyaxl posted this gem in the thread about when they'll get their first SEC win:

I think Mizzou, USC, Florida,UK and UT are all beatable. We're gonna have to get a lot better on offense though to have a chance.

I'll take that bet bro. The amount of delusion continues to amuse me. SC is the only team I think they MIGHT have a chance of beating, and even then I don't think so.

Their defense is good enough to win a couple of SEC games. The problem is that their offense is as bad as our defense was in 2012, and you don't fix that kind of problem in the middle of the season.

Yeah, I know. Bad post. I meant to say "if" which would have read if "if James Franklin is still the Vandy coach." I saw some goobers on Vandymania trying to say that Franklin would have won_______game by 2-3 touchdowns.

The post he quoted was from January 2014, right after Franklin left to go to Penn St. It was obvious you were being sarcastic, and why they chose to quote you on that particular post is beyond me.

I agree totally with him. Mizzou, USC, Florida, UK and UT all can be beat.

Just not by Vandy...

Houston is on the road and actually decent...so good luck with that Vandy :eek:lol:

Is Vandy at home or away for you guys?

Edit: NM, I looked it up. I would assume Vandy's stadium will be majority blue that game?

I love it how they think because we just came "back to reality" or whatever they believe we're beatable now. Oklahoma would absolutely tear them apart on both sides of the ball.
