The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

Now look the law of averages dictates that a school can't go 200 years without winning 10 games so at some point in the next 60 years I can see it happening.

theres some real gems on their 247 board regarding the schedule. Predicting wins and loses. Ive seen them predict 9-3, 7-5, etc.Whats funny is one poster was leaving such a huge window saying realistically he could see 5-7 but they could be 9-3 hahaha. Ridiculous. Theyre a 2-4 win team and thats just what it is. I have no idea how they are predicting close games with ole miss either lol. One guy is even saying they beat UK by 17 lol. UK is not great but they are way ahead of Vanderbilt. Showed it last year. There are a few realistic posters on there and they get destroyed for predicting just 2-3 wins.

Vanderbilt could be immune to the law of averages as it applies to college football. They've been at it since 1890 and they haven't won 10 games in a single season yet:

These are their best seasons in terms of wins:

9-wins: 1904 (9-0, Dan McGugin's second season), 1915 (9-1), 2012 and 2013 (9-4 each year, accomplished in part through smoke-and-mirrors scheduling).

8-wins: 1902 (8-1), 1906 (8-1), 1910 (8-0), 1911 and 1912 (8-1), 1922 (8-0-1), 1926 (8-1; things get tougher as Robert Reese Nayland assumes command at Tennessee), 1927 (8-1-2), 1928, 1930 and 1941 (8-2), 1948 (8-2-1), 8-3 (1955), and 1982 (8-4). All-Time Records for Vanderbilt

I honestly believe that is being generous. I think 1 is most likely, 2 would be gravy, and 3 is ceiling.

obviously 4 is generous but they will prob end up with 2 or 3.

Guys Karl Dorrell was the only reason they had a bad season last year. If you look closely at the tape you can actually see him whispering into McRary's ear "look like a deer in headlights," and telling the rest of the team in a huddle that #anchordown means to be at the bottom in last place. Glad that scapegoat is gone.

haha me too. McCrary is awful btw lol. He was scared to death in the UT game. That pass rush shook him pretty early. He was good in one game last yr really. That was ODU who was 115th in the country in scoring defense (38ppg). Both QBs are terrible so i dont care which one they play.

Seriously, the only team I see them easily beating is Austin Peay if that haven't SIGNIFICANTLY improved over last year. They could win 4, and maybe, just maybe 5 games if they manage to win all of their OOC games and knock off, say, Kentucky. They could just as easily be 1-11 though. As I've stated, WKU returns one of the best QBs in CFB, Houston has a stout defense, and even MTSU is listed as a tossup at about 54% in Vandy's favor according to ESPN's FPI index.

Interestingly, ESPN gives Vandy a better chance to beat Georgia (18%) than it does UT (12.8%)

that last part is pure gold, and I am sure doesn't sit well with the Vandiacs, seeing as how ewetee only beats them barely on biased ref calls.

I see only one for sure win for Vandy, and that's AP. The MTSU game is 50-50 in my eyes. I don't think they will beat Houston or WKU, so I have them at 2 wins on the season. 3 wins is their absolute ceiling. They just aren't going to come close to sniffing a win in the SEC. They may get lucky and sneak out a win vs. Houston or WKU, but I wouldn't count on it. They could just as easily only win 1 game too though. I'd absolutely LOVE to see them go win less. It would be priceless to watch AP knock off Vandy.

yep..they were closer to 1-11 last yr than they want to admit. Charleston Southern only lost to them by 1 and UMASS gifted them the game by missing about a 19yrd chip shot to seal it lol.

Their "Vanderbilt reVealed" video for the UMASS win is absolutely hysterical.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1difhE4SoLA

The beginning of the video shows the astonishing lack of fan support for the program. Looks like there's legitimately a grand total of 50 fans watching the team walk to the stadium.

Then you've got Mason's "fiery" pre-game speech to get the team pumped to go to battle against what is quite possibly the worst team in FBS football.

A few highlights of Vandy executing some unremarkable plays and we're back to Mason in the locker room, screaming and howling to motivate his guys to beat a team that was FCS just three years prior and that went 1-11 in 2013.

Finally, the game is over and Vandy escapes with a win. Mason looks like a kid on Christmas morning and even gets presented with a game ball from AD David Williams. For beating UMASS!

Speaking of David Williams, the guy looks comatose at the end of the video.

Saw a poster over there say they'll lose to WKU and win two SEC games. Against what SEC teams? Sure as hell wont be us and UK

"If we win 5 or 6 games, I don't know about you, but I'd be well pleased. If one of those wins was against UT - give the CDM an extension, baby."

This guy doesn't think it's out of the question. I'd like to think that deep down the majority of their fan base knows the '12 and '13 games against UT were an anomaly.

i will say if they do get to six wins CDM does deserve an extension and a COY award.
