If we couldn't get Kiffin, who would you want?
Kiffin is in my top three. I like Chadwell. I like Malzahn...and obviously Freeze. I am warming to Campbell. I think Les Miles checks off some boxes for this hire.

I think it's a crapshoot where White ends up on this. I just have a feeling we wind up with somebody we didn't expect and are pleasantly surprised.

I wouldn't mind Chadwell. I feel like Freeze and Kiffin are quite unlikely, but obviously I'd be thrilled with either hire. I'm not crazy about Malzahn or Miles, though.

Opinions and bellybuttons...we've all got'em. And that's ok...it's what makes this place owrk.

Regardless of who it is, it's 95% likely that it'll be a better coach than Pruitt simply because of how bad Pruitt was. In the long term, hopefully we'll all get to celebrate.

Would support it but I'd almost bet he won't even be interviewed. He will not be the hire, down the road if he behaves himself maybe, but now, no.

It is if you look at where he's coached. 1 year at TN after following a 5-7 year that got Fulmer fired. Then went to USC, who just got nailed by the NCAA and was very shorthanded with the scholarship reductions and 2 yr bowl ban.. How he went 28-15 and never had a losing season while under sanctions and numerous scholarship reductions at USC was incredible. At Fla Atl he went 26-13, 2- 10+ win seasons and 1 losing season where he lost 3 starting QB's. His first year there he went 11-3 and won Conf USA..The prior year they were 3-9. In 9 years as a College HC he has had 1 losing season 5-7, when he lost numerous starting QB's. He's won 63% of his games. That's pretty great to me considering where he's coached and the adversity he faced at each stop. Imagine what he could do at a football school with no sanctions and time to get his own players at. Say what you want but Lane is a really good HC

If you find yourself where you have to make excuses and explain away an issue...you likely are on the losing side.

Enjoy the ride....coaching searches are traditionally the highlight. Hopefully it keeps heading up this time.

I’m getting the feeling that we might finally have the right Chief leading this thing....We can only hope!

It's not his belief, it's the delusional belief of many here who think we could just get him just like that if we wanted him. It's the same delusion that we've had over the past several years of coaching searches which continue to embarrass us on a national level.

What exactly do you think is keeping him away? You think the coach that left us after one year to go to a school potentially facing scholarship reductions wouldn't leave Ole Miss to come to UT?

When Kiffin first came here, I approved. Though it took me a long time, I forgave him for leaving (I would have done the same thing if I were across the country and UT called me). There are several good reasons to give him another chance; however, there is one compelling reason why he should never, ever come back to Knoxville. I never want another Nick Saban acolyte to ever work for us again.

So he is good enough for us but not USC?

He wasn't good for us and he wasn't good at USC. The jury is out for him at Ole Miss. I just don't see him as a HC in the P5. At least not one that is going to take you to the promised land. As an OC? He's right up there with the best.

Never followed a coach with a reverse coaching career like Kiffin. Its odd, probably just like he is.

I think with 1 more year of success at Ole Miss, a lot better jobs will be calling than we currently are.

I doubt it's kiffin with the double down from the AD today on integrity and good moral compass. Not sure if Kiffin fits that. But i hope I'm wrong.

I don't know what that means.

But I do know if he asks the players who they want, Lane will be a popular response.
