That is not the reason I don’t want him. I want someone who can take our program to an elite level. He won’t stay long enough to do that, even if he had the ability. I have all the evidence in the world to suggest that he won’t. You have none to suggest that he will.
Tennessee is on no position to pull a caliber coach like Kiffin.TENNESSEE IS IN NO POSITION TO PULL A CALIBER AD LIKE WHITE --- oh wait.
Hell three years ago we thought we were too good for Schiano. Today he wouldn’t even give us a second look.
Vols football is dead, it’s going to take years to recover from this mess.
Expect a Google coach this time around.
If we were to offer him you can bet it's going to be on our terms! Hell I'd even work in that he must embark on a one month long apology tour around the state! Lol.He did well in his first season here. That may have been more because of the staff he hired than his coaching but I liked him while he was here. Obviously we wouldn’t want to forget how it ended and the fact that he would be doing the same thing to Ole Miss, not that I care about Ole Miss but it shows something about his character. If we were to hire him you gotta make him prove that this is the job he really wants long term and that could be done in his contract buyout clause. Basically make him agree to our terms to show his loyalty otherwise give him das boot!
It should also be noted when discussing Kiffin that his turnover gimmick at Ole Miss this year was a bag of money. The irony alone is just, I mean, you can’t make this stuff up.
But seriously folks, leave the man alone. They’ll build a statue of him down there if he wins the East once and averages 8 wins over 5 years. It’s laid back and out there far enough for nobody to care much about whatever shenanigans he decides to get into. He is not built for turning around a program on fire, as he plainly demonstrated at USC. Just let the man enjoy his pressure free life until some school with a beach has another opening.
Going to be surprised if the new AD goes after Kiffin. I believe that he will understand the pain the program and fans have been through and part of that pain was caused by Kiffin. Kiffin left here after one year and would leave Ole Miss after one year??? Believe ADDW will be seeking stability and a solid coach is isn't off to a perceived bigger program that comes calling.
Kiffin simply does not offer that. If Saban gets run over by a log truck next year and Kiffin has ramped our offensive production up and the Tide, for some crazy reason, came calling, Kiffin is gone just as fast as he left for USC and Ole Miss for us. He's a good coach and exciting, but the hinting of willingness to leave Ole Miss after one year is a huge red flag. This is not the be-all, end-all job in CFB in perception right now. I wouldn't touch him.
I think it will be someone who wants to build their program here and be identified with a great Tennessee football program that someone built, not with an eye half cocked elsewhere and using Tennessee only to polish his resume.
That's where we differ, I think if Kiffin comes here it's too put down long time roots. He bolted us for his childhood dream job, and yes to come here he would have to bolt Mississippi after 1 year. But he hasn't did that to date to nobody but us, and if he comes back to us it's not to bolt again. It goes against logic and it would be the nail in career suicide. In fact, if he did indeed leave Mississippi for Tennessee it would pretty much put his career on the line. Would make no sense to come back here unless it was to finish what he started 12 years ago. GBO!!!!Going to be surprised if the new AD goes after Kiffin. I believe that he will understand the pain the program and fans have been through and part of that pain was caused by Kiffin. My man, he got fired in the most epic fashion ever because he ran nothing but bubble screens and was having a disaster of a season. He’s just not a great coach. Pretty good coach, yes. Better than average coach on some days, yes. You people act like he is Urban Meyer. I just don’t understand the obsession.I don't think the vast majority of people realize what he did there, under very difficult situations. He was recruiting top 50 kids right and left, while under major probation, and winning games with a greatly reduced roster. What more was he supposed to do?
