Have to agree with that!

You've been around quite a while... where does Arch Manning go, UT or Ole Miss?
A lot has to transpire before that can be answered and I’m not sure those are his only considerations at this point but if I’m picking between the two. I’d say Ole Miss.

Definitely in my top three. But I don't think it happens.

That’s still one of the funniest clips I’ve ever seen of a coach. Love it.

The ole Stoney Point soothsayer says that after an exhaustive search Lane Kiffin is hired as the University of Tennessee's head football coach to a mixed reaction of the Vols fanbase & goes 7-5 in his first year but is ineligible for a bowl game; the Vols go 10-2 in his second year with a bowl game looming as Nick Satan announces his retirement due to health concerns. The night after the Vols beat Vanderbilt in the final game of the regular season a private jet picks lane up at 2:00 a.m. & whisks him off to Tuscaloosa where he states that he will always love & treasure his time in Knoxville, but the Tide has always been his dream job !!! He changes Knox's name to Nickey !!!

Y’all may think I’m nuts, and I’m not sure I would approve, but think about this. There are a LOT of people that wanted Kiffin the first time around and still a significant # of people now that he’s done well at 2 other stops. There was no way Kiffin was getting hired back to UT by Fulmer. But now it’s announced Fulmer is stepping aside.....

You started off right.

Lane left us for his dream job, but Dad tried to talk him into staying at UT. I really think if Lane could do it over knowing what he does now he would have stayed at UT and he would have done well here. I think he would for sure consider coming back if offered. Not a doubt in my mind. I would be willing to bring him back, at this point it could be what Kiffin and Tennessee needs. I think Lane has matured a bunch, he knows qb's and offense and hire good Defensive guys and let them do their thing. I don't think Kiffin would have a problem with Steele or Ansley. GBO!

Hiring Kiffin again would be like taking your ex back after she left you years ago for her dream husband. It doesn't matter how he's changed; IMO, he can't ever be trusted. He can EAD as far as I'm concerned.

Or you can view it like your ex had a cocaine issue and now she is finally clean.

The sex is gonna be just as kinky and she's still a dirty, dirty girl but now she is a dirty girl who isn't always looking for a fix.

Sorry....this is why I shouldn't do analogies at 2am.

Kiffin isn’t coming

Kiffin shouldn’t come

We shouldn’t even “want” Kiffin to come

Not because of what you may think......Kiffin isn’t coming because he would do to Mississippi, exactly what he did to Tennessee.

Kiffin “shouldn’t” come.....because he would be doing to Mississippi exactly what he did to Tennessee.

We “shouldn’t” want him to come......simply because he would be doing to Mississippi exactly what he did to Tennessee.

As much as the guy can coach, as much as many of us would like to see him get it done here, as much as it would be exciting......he ain’t coming.......or this would be his last HC job ever.

It just ain’t happening......and heck he might even “want” to.....but he won’t......not with his situation at Mississippi.

(Just my opinion)

All the more reason to get him.

If he wins big here, I'm okay with this being his last HC job ever.

I read this thread and think, What the actual f are these people thinking?

Lane Kiffin is going to leave a stable Ole Miss program earning $4M/yr that MIGHT get Arch Manning as a legacy QB........

for a possibly bowl ineligible, likely scholarship dinged, UT program with no visible AD and a record of a decade of chaos.

Y'all need to put down the pipe. Lane Kiffin isn't smoking what you're smoking, isn't suicidal about his career, and can actually do just fine at Ole Miss without coming to a crippled UT program.

All the more reason to get him.

Not sure I understand.

My opinion was:

He isn’t coming (for reasons I mentioned)....so how would you “get” him to come?

How do you hire someone to come into a bad situation.......one that he “might” not be successful in (because of everything going on) with him knowing.......if he comes, he won’t get another shot anywhere else?

You leave two programs high and dry......he won’t get “more” chances.

Me too

The problem is the “if.”

He is now older and much more experienced. He knows the situation at Tennessee. He also understands “if” he were to do to Mississippi what he did to Tennessee.....he wouldn’t get “other” chances.

He simply wouldn’t do it. Now if he had already been at Mississippi for say 2 or 3 years....he might.

Also if Tennessee were in a better situation he might......I mean “if” he had a better chance for success.

Kiffin, sitting on his hiney, might get Arch Manning at Ole Miss. There's no way Peyton let's Arch consider UT coming off scholarship dings and who knows what in '23.

C'mon. Who moves from a stable rising SEC program to a struggling, likely NCAA dinged program?

I very much think you should continue making analogies at 2am. 🤣

If you believe AV, which after today, he definitely proved himself again (at least to me), Kiffin has already made contact to express interest.

Here's what I would say. If Kiffin wants to come back, cool. He can sign the most university friendly deal on the planet.

I'd write a 7 year contract saying that if he leaves, he has a $25 million buyout. If he is fired for cause, he is owed nothing. If he is fired for performance, he receives no buyout if he wins less than 50% of games. If he wins .500 or more and we fire him, then we owe him the buyout.

Then see how much he wants the job. I'd take him. But fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice....shame on me.

Kiffin would be someone we could get creative with in a contract based on his history with us
