The Impeachment Thread

Just read and the sixth says speedy to all criminal charges. No underlying requirements.

If she holds onto it she could also be voiding his fifth amendment right of due process.

She will definitely be going into unknown waters here and I am sure Trump would push it to the Supreme Court.

Last week, "its too fast!"

This week, "it's too slow!"

Speedy trials seems so laughable to me these days. I would suspect it would not apply as this is not a criminal trial but who knows.
I would certainly push the due process it if I could. Put some timeline on it and go thru the courts.

What a effing mess.

This isn’t a court that is backlogged for months. There’s nothing stopping the process except the dims. Maybe charge them with obstruction.

No one living person speaks for an entire religion. However, it is completely fair to judge the character of Donald Trump by his actions as President. Not all humans are as flawed as Trump. He is a uniquely egocentric and self-absorbed person who doesn't appear to be anchored to any set of moral values.

In other words Trump was destined to be a politician. The only real difference is that Trump made his fortune before he became a politician rather than acting as though his fortune was made acting in our behalf.

I suppose politics would be a consideration in this hypothetical, but the only way I know of to compel them is contempt and incarceration. I’d do everything I could to lock them up during any court challenges so they have a compelling reason to expedite the case rather than stall.
Yes, that might have some political ramifications.

Just glancing over this, has there been any modern cases of people jailed for failure to testify? It doesn't appear so.

When the grand jury determines that enough evidence is present to go to trial do they have the authority to just dismiss, move forward at their discretion, and/or approve of the judicial process?
No, because they know the rules will be followed and aren't faced with the asinine prospect of the "head juror" working with the defense team and dismissing the case with admitted prejudice.

He's much like Clinton in that respect. Overall, he's the most FDR-like president since him. About equal with Obama when it comes to narcissism.

Yes it’s amazing how someone’s net worth can be over $100 million by taking in $200k a year.

Try keeping it in context.
I was responding to a specific question.
Obvious how some of you end up so far off course.

There is no context when rules are made up during the process by both groups. So why the delay? Does the senate need to just go ahead and get it over with on their own?

They will either do the right thing and have a legitimate trial or not. Time will tell.
