The Impeachment Thread

Congress issued subpoenas to Holder and at the direction of the President he ignored them. Then the President refused to enforce the contempt orders so he doubly thumbed his nose at congressional authority. The only difference is that congress chose not to start impeachment hearings because of it.

Yes, so Congress never neutered itself. That's what they'd be doing here.

Oh good lord, really? That's all you got?

You have NOTHING of substance. A big fat zero.
No that's not all I've got.
I despise his environmental stances and his perpetuation of the climate change deniers non-sense.
His shortsighted energy policies suck.
His pick of DeVos may be the worst cabinet pick in history. His refusal to address the student loan crises is pathetic.
His tax "cut" policies were designed to more greatly benefit the wealthiest.
I hate his picks for judges.
I hate the fact that he changed his views on a woman's choice solely to placate the right.
I hate the fact that he is completely bought by the NRA.
I hate the fact that he has intentionally made America a much dumber and less informed country.
His refusal to address the health care crises is just compounding the problem.
I hate the fact that he has distanced our allies and embraced those most wishing to see our demise.
I hate pretty much everything that he stands for and believes in as a human.

When the Chief Law Enforcement officer of the land (POTUS) ignores congressional authority to the point or contempt and congress didn't impeach, they neutered themselves.

LOL. I am worried about you

Yep. lotta hate there. No substance, but lotta of triggered hatred.

LOL

You're gonna lose big.

Nothing that Congress did in relation to holder constituted a decision/ruling/verdict etc that it's own subpoenas did not have to be obeyed. That makes the situation strikingly different from Trump. Here the subpoenas were issued, they were ignored, and if the senate acquits, it will be saying that the executive branch is free to ignore Congressional subpoenas.

Do you want that as a precedent?

Aren’t the subpoenas and Trumps recommendation to ignore them in front of a court at this point? Aren’t they actually waiting for the judicial branch to decide whether those subpoenas are actually valid? So instead of waiting for the ruling from Judicial, Congress decides to become the judge. We subpoena, you deny, we charge you with “obstruction of Congress,” then convict with a vote. It’s a circular argument meant to convict in court of public opinion only.

We may have differing views on what constitutes substantive.
While our views might differ, the fact that you have nothing but irrational hatred shows what your views/opinions are driven by.

For someone who's tagline is 'rational and reasonable' you demonstrate neither of those qualities.

It's gonna be fun watching your meltdown next November.

When I need a good laugh I occasionally go watch a YouTube playback of one of the liberal media election night coverage. It's pure gold watching them trying to come to grips with Trump being elected after the midwestern states fall one by one.

Young Turks is one of my favorite. That little chick on there looks like she is about to explode.

It's certainly a once in a lifetime opportunity. It's like seeing bigfoot riding by on a unicorn only to get run over by a steamroller in slow motion. Fascinating, jaw-dropping, and sickening all at the same time.

You need to be able to investigate. I guess we will have to go through the courts, if we end up someone similar to Trump in the future. It is a scary thought, because you never know what the future will bring.

What is sad, is that if the economy wasn't as good as it was, I believe the Republicans would not enable him to block witnesses or stand behind his conspiracy theories which help Russia. We'll see how the Senate trial goes but I'm not holding my breath.

“It’s the economy stupid”. Bill Clinton’s mantra now adopted by the right. Clinton was impeached
