U talking about some of Spurrier's best teams. They beat us when they didnt have the best teams so thats irrelevant. U acting like we didn't have some of our best teams during that time as well. If i remember correctly our 97 team was more talented then the 98 team. That 97 fla team lost to LSU and Ga that year. Still beat us. In 96 we were the 2nd ranked team in the country going into that game and they were 4th so dnt bring up Spurrier's best bring up those 4 int's. U not beating the local middle school if u throw 4 int's. Wanna go to 95?? Im pretty sure we were up 30-14 in the second quater before they went on 48-7 run like it was basketball. Whose fualt is it when that happens in most cases??? The qb, so im not giving him a pass even though i think he is the goat. Clausen aint better then Peyton but if its one game, and its against Fla I want the Iceman
Maybe if you know for sure it’s Florida at the swamp, but that wasn’t the question. Against any other team I don’t think there should be a question. What if the game’s against Georgia?

Look. Whole team perspective. Spurrier owened Fulmer, big time. I rememember FL having 4th and 1s that turned into 50 yard TDs. Fulmer relied on athleticism, the OL, and defensive athletic ability. Spurrier exploited Fulmer's tendencies. IMO, a lot of the Manning vs. Spurrier games came down to Spurrier knowing Fulmer, Peyton playing with a bad offensive game plan, and Spurrier just exploiting Fulmer's defenses. Spurrier was just a much, much, better coach than Fulmer. Same narrative with Peyton vs. the Patriots. Has Peyton ever been coached by an all time great? No. His playoff teams made the playoffs because he dragged them kicking and screaming through the regular season against average teams. In the playoffs, you don't face **** defenses. The DBs shut down your bread and butter passing game and what you have left is the running game, which more often than not didn't work. We all saw what he did with the Broncos and their **** defense against the Ravens. We also saw what Peyton was able to accomplish with a noodle arm with an elite defense during his final super bowl. None of this **** exists in a vacuum.

You make some good points, but in reference to Fulmer vs Spurrier, I think a lot of people tend to make it out to be worse than it really was, in that time frame it was essentially 2 of the top 5 coaches in the country going at each other. They coached against each other 10 times and Fulmer was 3-7 against him. We had some bad luck against them as well, should’ve won at least a couple more, but had some uncharacteristic mistakes in several games, 6 turnovers in 95, 4 in 96, multiple in every game I believe. I think it came downpours in 5 straight games, not saying necessarily that is an excuse, but we both had incredible runs in that timeframe.

Peyton never beat Florida. But, he did win an SEC Title, and had UT in the NC conversation his Soph, Junior and Senior seasons. He was 3-1 in bowl games.
Casey beat the Gators twice, at the Swamp. He was 14-1 on the road. He did win an SEC East title. But, never an SEC Title, and he was 1-3 in bowl games.
So I am going with Peyton Manning.

I’m as pro Phillip Fulmer as they get. In fact, my screen name is jab at the “Farr phulmer” hire Gruden crowd. Peyton is overrated. Shuler was better.
Overrated? He is one of the top 5 QB's of all-time, in the NFL. No matter from what angle you approach it. Stats? Victories? Super Bowl rings? QB rating? I could go on. Yes! I am biased, as hell. But, the numbers don't lie.
Do you also believe that Tom Brady is overrated?
Seriously? Shuler?
