He was the master of hitting the deep in routes on 3rd or 4th and long. He was uncanny. He should have won a natty.
except that after the Florida win in 2001, at the late night pep rally, he jinxed it and said he was going home for the Rose Bowl.......only, we still had to play the SEC championship game, where Matt Mauck became a legend

It gets forgotten because of the loss, but he played his ass off against LSU in the ‘01 SEC title game. It’s not his fault that Travis Stephens and Donte Stallworth put the ball on the ground.
or that the D couldnt stop Rohan Davies.
I have a friend whos an LSU fan who named his dog Rohan. I wanna puke every time he says the dog's name

I know it's blasphemy, but he's my favorite Vol quarterback.
He's one of my favorites as well. Just a real battler on the field. A guy you'd go to war with and want in your foxhole. Granted, we've had more talented guys, but this kid was just a warrior on the field. Hard not to love the kid.

Really? And how did we do before and after Fulmer. Fulmer haters are total idiots.

Well, let’s see. We were only one year removed from back to back SEC championships before he took over. Then, before he was fired we had two losing seasons in the last four.

Fulmerites are total idiots!

He beats fl 3 of 4 atleast with the 95, 96, 97, 98 teams and maybe wins us 2 NC instead of one.

Dude was a baller.

Peyton was a much better NFL player but Casey was better in college.

If not for Peyton he would be the all time best QB at TN. Not a shot at Manning just saying his greatness was just under appreciated because of Peyton's greatness .
I'd put Dobbs above Ice Man, but Casey was a winner period.

Clausen had a 34-10 record with losses including:
--1-3 Bowl record including blow out losses to K-State, Clemson, & Maryland
--8-5 record in 02 (Vols preseason #4)which included blowout losses at home to
-Florida 30-13. Clausen had about 7 fumbles in the rain
-Alabama 34-14
-Miami 26-3
-Also lost at UGA18-13 and in the bowl game to Maryland 30-3--
--Lost at home to UGA in Sr year 41-14
--Lost to an unranked Auburn team same year 28-21 and threw an INT on last drive in that one
--Lost to an unranked Clemson team 27-14 (Vols #6) in the bowl game.

Had some very good games including 2 wins in Gainesville, a 5 OT win vs an unranked Bama, OT wins vs unranked Arkansas and South Carolina teams, a 10-6 win at Miami, a blowout win over Michigan in a bowl game, a win over an unranked ND team, and a 4-0 record vs UK and Vandy. All in all, a good career. Only problem, the Vols were coming off a 4 year stretch where the Vols had gone 43-7 with two SEC Championships and a National Title. His tenure was good but a sizeable step down from where they had been

He didn’t even play against UGA in 2002. And he only played the first half against Miami.

Average qb surrounded by elite talent. He did have the clutch gene though, and tended to come through in big situations.
