The Golf Thread

Not sure what you mean...

The ball is moving left in fight. Are you suggesting it's starting right and moving back left? No, it's definitely straight and ending up to the left of my body when it lands. Even 5-10 yards may be too much of an estimate.

I moved from a regular flex to an uniflex and slowed my swing way down. Lost a lot of yardage but I'd rather be in the short stuff than 30 yards father and buried/lost

Uniflex is between a regular & stiff. If its going straight & curving left just play it. If its just going straight left play that. Could be lie of the club isn't right for your swing. Could be your swing period. A lot of good players setup with a slightly open face at address & it's square at impact. Even though equipment is important you can't always blame bad shots on it. Get fitted & get some lessons if you wanna be sure.

Hmmm, thought uni was below regular.

Would love to get fitted and get lessons. Too much $$$$

Gotta live with what I have now, free tips on VolNation!!!

I understand, golf can hit the pocket hard. Uniflex is above regular but not quite stiff. I assume your hitting Nike or callaway irons which can have a lot of offset so maybe move the ball back a hair in your stance. If you're hitting the ball solid & have a consistent ball flight that isn't too extreme I would just play it.

Mine are Adams Tight Lies. With those my ball drifts right with the regular flex shaft. A lot more so than what was happening today

Today I was hitting Nickent 3DXs with the uniflex

Can my take off effect anything? I can't ever seem to find it comfortable or replicate the same way twice

That shaft flex will be enormously inconsistent, so your tempo has to be near perfect all the time to replicate shots. Thats why folks hit the stiffest shafts they can handle. Many give up distance for consistency.

Because any grown man & a lot of younger guys can generate enough clubhead speed to warrant using a stiff flex or better. If he wants to be spot on then he can get fitted on a launch monitor. At the very least get a ball park figure on swing speed & go to some demo days & bang some balls.

A lot of? Seriously? Does tempo not enter the equation? A player should use the least flex he can and retain consitency. Some players need the distance more than the consistency. Those guys should soften it up and let it whip.

You can have a slow tempo or a fast tempo & still have 100+ swing speed.

Another question, are mid to long irons a problem for most amateurs?

I can rake my 3&5 woods and hit my 7-8-9 irons flush but anything in between just sucks...

When I was playing every day in HS I had a high swing speed. Now it's considerably slower and rightly so.

Hopefully I can get out and play with the uniflex and see what I can do

My new bag. Love it!
