My buddy I play with who claims to be a 5, but I beat him 60% of the time called me up all excited about his new irons.
So we play sunday and he got the titleist blades. I was like dude you aren't good enough for these clubs. He didn't hit a solid iron all day.
Those will be fine. Do yourself a favor and go take one lesson just to get some idea what a good swing feels like.I'm getting the Walter Hagens tomorrow at Dicks. "Golf specialist" up there said that's what he recommends beginners. Not really worried about brands right now. I just want to have some fun and learn how to hit the ball/play the game. Maybe if I improve enough then spend some more money on certain higher quality pieces later on.
Mizuno JPX800s. once we got the shaft right there was no question which club was producing the best ball flight for me. It's sort of an in between club and definitely not a players iron but I'm still able to work the ball both ways so I really don't care. Plus, I'm about a full club longer than I was last week which I think is kind of amazing. The bad news is I have to redo my wedges since the yardage gap between my pw and sw is now about 25-30 yards.
