The Golf Thread

I would agree with you, but when he chipped in on 18 in the stupid World Cup deal a long time ago, (with Duval) I realized he had a "will" to win. He doesn't think about losing, he only thinks about doing what it will take to win. That usually boils down to making a par save, or a long putt for birdie when he needs it. So far, he hasn't disappointed.

Granted, they lost in the playoff, but it was still ridiculous that he made that shot. Some, like a Mize or anyone playing against Norman for awhile, may have their weeks when they are blessed, but Tiger has been blessed since he was a junior. I won't argue that some of it may be simple luck, but to do it over and over again means something.

Ok, well my whole argument stems back to doozer asking if anybody actually missed Tiger being gone.

not quite. that was a different discussion in a different thread. if you would like to discuss TV ratings and how Tiger's absence affected the Tour further, you can find the thread.

my only point was if you're a fan of the game, and mainly the PGA Tour, you missed plenty of compelling stories if you only pay attention when Tiger is around.

i never understood how somebody who becomes such a fan of playing a game doesn't enjoy watching the very best compete at the highest level, regardless of who is in the field. different strokes i guess.

lastly, the PGA, USGA, and PGA Tour were all well established before Tiger Woods was a glint in his father's eye. i'm not going to say the Tour hasn't benefited tremendously from Tiger Woods, but these guys weren't exactly starving before Tiger turned pro.

Because they don't compel me to watch. I may watch a little bit, but I usually just check the scores on Monday morning to see who won and if a guy from my hometown played any good.

Yeah, I agree, ehh. Those were all exciting, ehh, events. Ehh, nothing like watching Paddy Harrington win a golf tournament, ehh. Listening to him, ehh, talk is awesome, too.

he was on PTI today.

it's always shocking to hear a guy from another country speak with an accent relating to where he's from, isn't it?

Yeah, whatever! I already said if you enjoy watching people like him play, go for it.

Anybody seen that new Powerbilt nitrogen filled driver? Are you freaking kidding me? Saw the infomercial after watching the Haney Project today (Sir Charles is struggling) and Fuzzy was acting like Pro's would be using it. How is that pos legal?

I make it a policy to not hit clubs that are sold via infomercial.

Probably a solid call, except on the diamond faced, u grooved, alien chipper / putter combo with adjustable lie tool and pure stopping power.

The best of all time has to be that god awful infomercial Peter Kessler did for the Perfect Club.

Was that the one that the would supposedly spin so much that you could back it up on concrete?

I combined two or three, but one backed em up on concrete and one was a guaranteed out from any bunker and the ugliest club ever.

What was the one where the guy yelled like Jimmy Connors hitting a serve every time he hit the driver?

I don't think I've seen that one, unless you're talking about Zuback on a momentus commercial.

More entertainment was that stupid power trainer machine with a rope tied the club. Daly was hocking it for them.

Was the Perfect Club not merely a wide-soled hybrid with a 5-iron loft, yet was being marketed as if it were something completely original and revolutionary?

That's . . . pretty much it.

I'll add another qualifier . . . you should never purchase a golf club where an installment pay plan is involved.

I admit that I've been tempted to buy the solus wedges a couple of times. The F2 wedges look retarded.

I'm not sure if I mentioned getting a couple of lessons. It's been a 50/50 mix of aggravation and jubilation since then, but the scores are starting to be respectable again...hopefully I'll be shooting well by the end of the summer.

just got a r7 limited ed. driver. like is so far, seems like a pretty good club. imo taylormade drivers are far above all others.
