It's often called the 5th major. It always has probably the toughest field of any tournament. The course isn't playing quite as tough as it has in years past but that's Mother Nature.

Not foolish at all. Not a major, not close, not departing from that idea at all.


I can say without a doubt that my wife, friends, mom, co- workers, mailman, dentist,etc will not mention The Players in conversation with me between now and eternity.

Major sporting events like The Masters, British Open, Super Bowl, The Kentucky Derby, etc. don't have that same trajectory between now and eternity.

But you're strong here man, you and the dumbasses at NBC calling this thing are all over it.

I never said it was a major. But I'm also not comparing it to the John Deere Classic.

Again, I am talking about how idiotic the commentators are in their coverage of it. Other than that, I would have never mentioned it. But you're right, it's so close. Excuse me while I go find the The Players Championship thread.

PGA Players talk about the Players Championship all the time. If it "wasn't even close," there's no way the Players would have a major quality field every single year. It's not just NBC that schills out the propaganda. It's every sports entity that covers golf. Between the legends of the course itself and the pride the actual players take in winning the event, it's so close to being the fifth major that it's not funny.

The only thing I would disagree with GA about is that the Memorial isn't close to it. I even think the Tour Championship is a bit distanced.

Just saw split screen footage of what Serge got mad about. Pretty comical to believe that Tiger pulling a club out of site of Sergio was some sort of gamesmanship.
