I was told to practice swinging with just my left arm and really hold that right shoulder back. Thoughts?

It's just too hard to help anyone on a board like this. Easier to talk feel and timing than particular fixes.

Have to say I've never heard about keeping the right shoulder back. The modern game is about hammering it with that back shoulder.

I think . . . You shouldn't think that much. :) . I hate bandaid stuff like that. Think about the things you should be doing instead of the thing that's causing the ball to go left.

Two things make it go left. Closed clubface relative to club path, or left club path. Nothing else makes it go left.

The funny thing about that is that I never feel like I'm hitting the ball that way. I'm lefthanded but swing righty. Everything for me is about pulling through with the left side rather than firing the club through with the right side. It's hard for me to process a lot of instruction since I just don't think that way.

Load is about getting fully on the right side or letting the club fall on the left thumb with gravity. As pressure mounts, people get in a hurry and don't get all the way back.

Loading the shaft is different. It means flexing the shaft to the point it was intended so itcan unload stored energy at release point.

I try to go back until I feel like my left arm is about to bend, then fire my hips and get my right elbow to follow my hip. I'm afraid if I get too into what you are discussing, I will be effed.

Guys that think technically tend to suck. I'd rather talk feel.

I talk about hammering with the back shoulder because it promotes acceleration, while that pull promotes decel in weaker players. They stop at the ball.

Don't listen to message board fixes. It's all useless without actual look at swing, divots and ball flight.

You're basically doing what I'm saying, but it's a feel thing that's hard to communicate unless you're hitting balls or were at least looking at the same thing. Probably the only thing worse than trying to fix things yourself when you have no feel is to try and interpret a fix from a message board.

Actually, i just started doing this as I have taken the game more serious the last year. I went to the Masters practice round and watched the range more than I did the golfing. Then I dvr'd a few swings and slowed them down.
I never realized how much pro golfers use their lower half until I saw the best and watched as many as possible. And they all seemed to have their right elbow tucked. If I can do that and keep away from the high and right flairs, I play well. Problem is that it's still new, so I'm losing the confidence in it at certain points of the round.

It's also caused blazing case of golfers elbow, but that still could be from my first move being my arms moving my elbow, rather than my hips dropping it into the slot automatically.

Good stuff fellas.

there are no certainties, but it typically means higher ball flight, while high kick point means lower flight.

Makes since. The NV shaft I got in my driver. I hit the ball so much higher now than with the proto shaft. It's ridiculously high. I am ordering an X flex with a higher kick point this week.

The VS proto is a very good high kick point shaft. The NV-S is a low kick point, high flight rig. The NV (green) is the original version and calls itself a high kick point, but it's pretty well a mid flight for me. I went from the VS to VS Proto by you in my Hybrid and 3 wood. I use the 80x in both.

If you have the true NV, it shouldn't be absurdly high. If you have one of the jobs made as a stock for clubmaker, then you have a piece of garbage.

that surprises me.

I specifically said I have a very high ball flight and he said the NV will keep in down. It is the 75 gram stiff. I ordered the shaft in my Razr Fit from Calloway. I hit the proto very high but nothing like the NV. I wish I could describe how high it goes. It's ridiculous.

Last question for the night. Shafts: low kick point = higher ball flight or the opposite?

I told ya that stock shaft wasn't that great. I remember you saying how high you hit it before & thought it might give you some trouble. I put a diamana blueboard in mine & it's been awesome. An x-flex may not necessarily help your problem. A whiteboard may be what you need if you hit the ball that high. You will pay $$$$ though. You can get them with the razr fit tip already on them.

I played Saturday with a fitting pro buddy of mine, the guy I usually go to and should have gone to this time. He said i definitely need the X flex. I looked at the whiteboard and it would have been almost $600 for the Razr Fit and that shaft. My wife would have killed me if spent that much on a golf club. Haha.

Most clubs won't let you have gas carts. In fact, they're pretty rare as it is now

thanks

i've still got some research to do...I think you can lease a cart from the course and use it in the community and on the course, and I think if you buy one, you can only use it in the community but not on the course to golf...

If that's the case, I'll just lease one and use it, and not buy...doesn't make any sense to buy one if you can't use it to golf

Headed to Orlando next week. Anybody played the following courses? Thoughts?

Falcons Fire
Grand Pines
Hunters Creek
Orange County National

Yea the whiteboard is pretty expensive & very popular which makes it hard to find a good deal. You can find a deal on a blueboard from time to time or a fubuki. Got mine on eBay for $130 that was a factory upgrade from callaway & had the tip already on it. If you go to the callaway site they show all the shafts they offer & that shaft's characteristics. You may be able to find a deal on a mid-high kick x-flex shaft on eBay or something.

can get some great high kick point x flex shafts for much less money. The popular flavor of the day is marketing shenanigans. The VS Proto in the x is more than plenty for the vast, vast majority of heavy hitters.
