I used to hit my three iron 215-225 if I really nutted it. I'm afraid those days are gone.

This is the problem with most amatuers. They tend to club themselves based on their very best shots with that particular club. When you were 220 yards from the hole/green, did you pull out your 3 iron?

I love my cobra amp clubs!

Me too except I'm not sure the amp 3 hybrid is in the bag to stay. May go with a baffler t-rail hybrid like my t-rail fairway 3 wood. Bag is pretty much complete & been putting a lot of range time. The blueboard shaft in my razr fit has made a huge difference.

How often do you hit it into a green?

exactly. A brother hitting into greens with it likes some altitude. If you don't have the pop to climb a 2 iron, the hybrids are the way to go. I even have some of the pop and still choose the hybrid because I still get to go down through it and hit that high ball.

Never, no reason to. Longest iron I have hit into a green this year is a 5 iron on a par 3. I hit my 2 iron off the tee about 240 consistently. I hit it straighter more consistently than my fairway woods. So on tight fairways I use the 2 iron.

I have a very high ball flight. I think that is why I hit my long irons so well.

I still hit my 2-iron pretty well, but opted for the hybrid just so I could land it on the green and stop it at the same time. Too often when using my 2 iron, I would pure it yet it would go right through the green. Especially on the more difficult layouts. When I am 220-235 now, I just pull out the 19 degree rescue club.

I still hit the 3 iron and use 18 deg hybrid that's about 1/2 inch short of where it started. I use a high flex point, very stiff shaft so I can keep it down if need be, but it naturally pounds it high.

Shot an 89 at Tri Cities today.. Had several 3 putts and one 4 putt or I would have had a pretty good day.

Is $160 a good deal on a Rocketballz 3hl 17 degree? 6 weeks old.

Guy I played with Saturday only carried a 5 wood that was the length of 3 wood. What would be the philosophy behind that. Just adding distance to the 5 wood?

or getting some height to a 3 wood length. Might play the ball deep in his stance or get forward of the ball, so he needs some loft to get it in the air. Many reasons for that club.

Gotcha. I carry to many clubs, 16. I don't play in a lot of tournaments, but when I do I struggle with which ones to drop. Thought that might be a way to drop a club.

Shot a 103 today at Warriors Path. Honestly, it was probably the best I've ever played haha. I'll break 100 sooner or later.

I stayed on the fairway a ton this round and I had a lot of great set up shots. I just choked when I got on/near the green. Three-putted too much.

There you go. Baby steps. Set your goals to breaking 100 then 90 and so on. You'll get there!

Typically I did, and when I was playing consistently it was pretty reliable. I've always been a very long iron player, or at least that is what the pro and caddy I used to play with told me.

Nothing worse than playing behind a group who is hitting from the blues and they should be hitting from the golds.. Can a ranger tell them to move up? Guess they can since they sre slow. Who they trying to impress

you could tell them to move up too

but, I have seen starters tell groups to move up after he saw them tee off on the 1st hole

Don't play tips anymore. I swing differently and my back pays for it. Won't play whites until I have no choice. Comfortable anywhere up to @ 6900 yards.

Last time out shot 85, pared 6 of 9 on back nine. Today 90, since i went from taylor made bubble stiff shaft to Cobra Amp regular shaft and i can't keep it in the fairway. :(
