neutral...fighting a hook will do that to you, used to be strong

Yeah, I figured you were already on that trick but just double checking. The strong grip makes me hit the nice hooks with the driver which I like. But when I start snapping them, I have to rotate the hands counter clockwise a little some days.

Have you ever tried one of the drivers that is weighted to fade the ball? Not sure if that would cancel a snap hook or not?

I think the only way to stop is to stop trying to guide the ball and just setup and hit it. The mental side of the game has never been my strong suit...

that sounds crazy. The big snaps is most often a function of tempo. If the player generates his speed through the ball and lets the wrists unhinge naturally, the big snapper is hard to produce.

You may be right. I never have really had much of a problem with snap hooks.

Exactly. The problem is its hard to fix. Have to get your left hand back square to the target.

I always hit a draw, which turns into a snap due to a flipping of my wrist. It has taken me back up to being a 9. When I control it I play great. Just comes out whenever their is ob or trouble right and I block it horribly due to a flip.

I'm no pro, but your prob sounds identical to mine. A pro told me feel like the knuckles on your left hand are pointing down.

Two good drills are hands apart and swinging w just the left hand. Forces you to have good release and better impact position.

BPV hit it...my tempo on the course is much quicker than on the range...it's a mental thing of thinking the club I have won't get there, so I swing quicker and harder. I've got a DVD coming out for new golfers who wish they could hook the ball. It'll be a big seller...

If its tempo get an orange whip. Kind of pricey though

Have you tried taking an extra club? Therefore, you should know you got plenty and perhaps slow you down?

Like you said...it is all a mental thing

I'll buy the DVD. Anything more than about a 10 foot draw qualifies as a snap hook for me. My misses are pulls with a few block cuts thrown in to drive me nuts.

Stance and grip are the two things that do the trick for me. More grip than anything. But slightly closing my stance causes me to draw it a little. I draw it a lot better than I fade it. But opening the stance a little promotes more of a left to right ball flight. I prefer the draw.

Hit the range today. Great day for it! Hit it solid, but had to hit off the mats; that sucked.

If I can get my handicap back down to single digits I'm going to reward myself with a new set of irons. I'm at 13.

You can keep score like this 1 dude I play with & you'll be there in no time.

Where did you go? I have been going to the one downtown off riverside just so I don't have to hit off the mats.

Hit the range yesterday. Short and mid irons are fine...long irons and driver is still hooking...dammit. Reduced backswing and trying to keep downswing speed matched to takeaway speed seems to help. Stopping the reverse weight shift couldn't hurt either...lol

I don't know what has happened. Haven't shot 100 in 15 yrs, which is when I first played. Playing as a 9 for the past year and have been from a 6 to a 12 on and off, depending on how the year goes.
I'm afraid I just David Duval'd myself. 3 straight over 100 and the ball is going nowhere, or goes somewhere I didn't expect. I shot 81 and 76 the 2 rounds prior on the same course.
I can't believe it's happening, to be honest. I'm very competitive and this **** is killing me.
